ARC Focus of the Week
We have made it to the end of this school year! I hope that you find something amazing to read this summer that encourages you to grow as an educator. Reading can also be incredibly relaxing and I hope that you find something wonderful to help you rejuvenate! Keep reading to find out some of the books that I am looking forward to helping me grow and relax this summer.
On Target for IRLA Reading Level
Here is our final on target reading level data.
K-.90
1st-1.90
2nd-2.90
3rd-3.90
4th-4.90
HES creates readers!
1hour of reading each day equals more than 2.66 years of growth without any other interventions.
On Target for Reading Practice
We ended the year with over half of our students reading for one hour every day! That means those students had a better shot at gaining over two years of growth. That also means we had a little over 40% of our students NOT reading for an hour a day and NOT making the growth they could have. Let's think about what we can do to increase reading engagement and increase the number of students reading for an hour a day next school year.
Teach the Teacher
What I am looking forward to reading....
Reading Conferences by Jennifer Serravallo
This book is designed to help the teacher get the most out of their time conferencing with their students. I am hoping to get lots of great ideas to share with everyone next year. You could read it for yourself and we could discuss the ideas presented by the author!
Rising Strong by Brene Brown
I was talking with some friends recently and they shared how life changing this book was for them. I am trying this author who is new to me based on their recommendation. What books have you thought about reading?
The Overdue Life of Amy Byler
This was a recent book available free from Amazon Prime First Reads. Do you know about this amazing perk? If you are a Prime member, you can get a full length, about to be released book, every month! Here is the link to this month's freebies!
