Reading
Finding features in our informational text helps us understand informational writing. We marked text features and then we found a friend to share them with.
Math
Learning place value is hard but fun. Everyone was given a two digit number and told to line up in order without talking. It was challenging because the numbers skipped around the number line: 5, 7 15, 20, 28,35....
Cat in the Hat
We watched a Brainpop video about Dr. Seuss and read our Scholastic News about this famous author. We wrote 3 things we learned about Dr. Seuss on our Cat in the Hat projects--The kids really wanted to wear them but I hung them up in the room. I guess they can wear them at home.
place value
Making sure we understand comparing 2 digit numbers by drawing a card with the symbol on it, then building the numbers around it! I think we have it!
The Foot Book
My copy of this book has vanished, but it is a great book about opposites. First we had the children trace their feet...
...then we had them write antonyms or opposites on their feet.
Phonics
Bossy R really bosses the vowels around and changes their sound!!! The children loved the video on Youtube. The song is rather catchy!
Top Dog
Trinity is our last Top Dog. Her favorite animal is a dog and she loves to eat burgers and fries. She is pawsome at ballet and cheerleading. When she grows up, she wants to be a singer!
Doggy Bag
1. Check Friday folders for extra practice packets.
2. Check the dogbinders for new tricky word list in the word tab.
I don't care how fast your tail can wag...you aren't getting on the bed....OK, maybe just for a little bit!
Iditarod
We will be learning about the Iditarod race next week. Your child picked a musher to follow as they race across Alaska with sled dogs. Each day, your child will mark what check point their musher has passed. If you don't know anything about the Iditarod, just wait--your child will be an expert!
www.iditarod.com Go to the race center and then musher profile to learn about your child's musher.
