St. Louis Preschool
STEAM Week
With the help of our PTO, Preschool added a new Construction Building center with foam bricks, shovels, a wheel barrow, hard hats and more, giving students a chance to try their hand at being builders. This new Learning Center quickly became a new class favorite.
This week we also explored with magnets with a bin of items, offering students an opportunity to determine which items are magnetic. We had working gears, at our small table play station and built a marble run with a magnetic wall coaster, adjusting things piece by piece until our marble flowed with effortless ease down to the roller coaster into a basket.
Finally, thanks to the PTO's gift to our classroom, our Preschoolers were introduced to coding with our new 2 new robots. The students loved interacting with Botley and we were amazed by how much they have learned already about multistep code and direction.
Thank you parents for all of the trash bags, candy, soup and more that you have sold and all that you have donated, which has given our students such a rich learning experience. We couldn't be more grateful to our PTO and our dedicated parents!
Bee Week and Our Senses
On Monday, Pre-K engineered their own beehives out of cereal. On Tuesday, Early Learners created a darling bee craft project that could help them tell the story of how bees hop from flower to flower collecting pollen and nectar. We also had the opportunity to explore some of the tools used by beekeepers.
We read stories and watched videos, to dig deep into a beehive and learned about the important jobs that each bee does to help the hive.
It was a fun week learning that bees are our friends and that they have such an important job to do, helping delicious fruit, vegetables and beautiful flowers to grow.
On Thursday and Friday, we spent time exploring our senses. We had a sense explosion with our popcorn snack and each class had an opportunity to discover "what do you see" color mixing.
Thank you parents for helping us with our Easter Parties!
Thank you parents for making all of this possible. We truly couldn't do it without you.
