A Note from the Principal
I want to bring a safety and instructional concern to you.
We welcome all parents and visitors to our school for lunch, volunteering opportunities, and scheduled meetings. We require all visitors to check in/check out at the Welcome Desk and show a valid ID. Also, we do ask all visitors to stay for only the reason listed for the visit. We do this for two reasons:
1) Safety and Security - When parents/visitors extend their visit to take their child to the Media Center, visit a little longer by going to recess, or come to the classroom before or after the scheduled visit, we no longer have accurate records of the location of our visitors which takes us out of compliance for safety and security guidelines. The teacher must focus on the safety of students in case of an emergency.
2) Instruction - Instructional time is protected so maximum teaching and learning can take place. Unscheduled visitors in the classroom interrupt the teachers' lesson plans and breaks the confidentiality of all other students in the classroom.
It is imperative that we monitor all areas of the campus for the safety of all students. If a parent would like to schedule an observation in his/her child's classroom, he/she should contact the assistant principal for their child's grade level.
Thank you for your understanding of our visitor protocol. Please share this information with spouses, grandparents and others who come to visit.
Warmly,
Bron Gayna
IOWA Testing This Week!
This assessment is not used for grading or promotion; however, they help schools and teachers gain further insight into student learning. The IOWA measures achievement in core content areas (Grade 2 does not participate in Science or Social Studies.).

NATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2
Join children and adults around the world as we celebrate the benefits of walking to school!
Walk to School Day is an event that promotes walking for several reasons:
physical activity;
teaching safe pedestrian skills to children;
awareness of how "walkable" a community is and where improvements can be made;
concern for the environment;
reducing traffic congestion, pollution, and speed near schools;
sharing time with parents and children.
**If your child must ride a bike or scooter to school on Walk to School Day, please remind them to be extremely mindful of all our walkers!
Mark your calendars and walk to school on National Walk to School Day - Wednesday, October 2nd.
