Message from the Principal

Dear Rivendell Elementary Families,

What a wonderful first week of school! I feel so grateful to be a part of two incredible schools with such amazing professionals working with our students! I enjoyed meeting many of you either this past week, and I am anxious to meet many more of you throughout the next few weeks.

A few items of note:

Please try to send your students with healthy snacks to school. We noticed a lot of sugary snacks the first week, and we are trying to help our students keep their energies up throughout the day. If you need help providing snacks, please contact the offices and we will help you out!

In terms of dress code (especially considering this upcoming and continued hot weather), our rule of thumb is simply "no undergarments showing". As the stepmom to 7th grade young lady, whom I recently took school shopping, I understand the struggle to find longer shorts and tank tops! We also discourage flip flops for the playground as it is a safety concern.

I hope you have had the opportunity to look at the handbook that was sent home on the first day and is available as a link in this note. Please take a look at the discipline continuum - we are trying to all be on the same page regarding negative behaviors - particularly bullying and harrassment, disrespect, refusal, and physical contact. I look forward to partnering with families so that all students can access their educations without distractions from negative behaviors. It has been a wonderful first week with limited behavior issues; however, we wish to be proactive!

We are so excited to start the year, and I feel truly honored to be here. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat!

Warmly,

Julie

Screen time recommendations

If your children are like mine, the iPad is a constant (sometimes welcome!!) distraction. Here are the recommendations for screen time for our kids. As a mom, I am working on it too! :)

Updated handbook!

We will be focusing on consistency between the two schools. A copy of the handbook will be sent home, but you can also access it online.
