It's Been a Great Week at Hoover!
The 2019 Camping Trip - For the Record Books!
The 2019 5th Grade Camping Trip was fantastic! We could not have had better weather for our trip. Our adult volunteer chaperones were wonderful. Our teachers and camp staff did an outstanding job with all of the science lessons and activities. Best of all - our Hoover students displayed their PRIDE by staying positive, showing respect for the volunteers, having integrity and taking care of the camp property, doing the right thing at all times, and encouraging others, even when that means holding a reptile!
This camp was the largest one in school history with a total of 224 campers!
Order forms for picture CDs of our camp experience will be for sale later in the semester for $5 each with all profits going towards Riley Hospital for Children.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this the best camp ever!
*We have a number of items that were left behind at camp. If your camper is missing something, please encourage them to check the Hoover lost & found.

Notes from the Nurse
I cannot believe we are finishing our first month of school already. Here are a few quick tips for your healthiest school year ever.
1. Start every morning with a healthy breakfast! It will help keep you alert and attentive in class. Breakfast is free to students every day.
2. Drink plenty of water. Also, remember to drink the recommended amount of milk to keep your bones strong.
3. Get plenty of sleep every night, the CDC recommended 10-11 hours for students 7-12 years of age.
4. Wash your hands often. It’s the best way to stay healthy and prevent the spread of infection.
5. Get at least 60 minutes of exercise at home every night. Exercise helps our minds and bodies stay strong, flexible, and resilient.
Also 5th grade parents, if your child took medications on the field trip, be sure to pick them up from the clinic. We will not be able to send the medicines home with students.
Sincerely,
Sabrina Cyr, Hoover School Nurse

Information for Car Riders and Walkers
Drop-off
Car riders and walkers can be dropped off as early as 7:30 AM at Door 12 facing Elm St. For everyone's safety - Do NOT drop off students along the bus lane behind the school in the south parking lot. Cars should pull up to the school along the sidewalk facing south along Elm St. You may release your car rider anywhere along the sidewalk to walk to Door 12 by the cafeteria. Once your car rider is a safe distance from the car, please proceed to South St. by the PT Building and turn left or right to continue on your morning route. For everyone's safety please do not make a U-turn on Elm St. or drive through the South Parking lot where bus riders are being released from buses. Students who arrive after 8:05 must enter through the school office at Door 1 and receive a tardy pass to class. Door 12 will be locked promptly at 8:05.
Pick-up
Dismissal begins at 2:30. Car riders and walkers will be released from classes out Door 1 by the office. Drivers may park in the marked parking spaces in front of Hoover School to wait for their car riders to come outside. Please do NOT PARK in any of the handicap accessible spaces or unmarked bus lane space in front of Door 12. We have several buses and parents who transport several students with exceptional needs who need to use those spaces daily and would appreciate your consideration.
