September Parent Newsletter

Hello September!

Well, the start to the school year is under our belt! It's time to get to work. I'm so excited to see each and every Cardinal in the building and excited to learn. It's going to be an amazing year where we all push ourselves and SOAR!

In the last three weeks of August as we started school, we had a fire drill and lock down drill. Ask your student about our plan and what they should do in the case of an emergency. We started our first round of electives for grades 3, 4, and 5. Students have had a blast learning something new, be sure to have them tell you all about their elective and what they're learning. We have implemented a new program called Positivity Project and discussed "The Other Person Mindset" and "Curiosity" to grow and learn more about ourselves and others. We launched our very first BoosterThon fundraiser with PTA to raise money that will purchase brand new collaborative furniture for our media center! Whew, it's been a busy few weeks. And there's SO much more to come!!

This newsletter will be published monthly. Please read over the updates and important information. I will also share a calendar of events to keep you up to date with all the Cardinal happenings.

Feel free to call the school (704)857-7708 or email Mrs. Sechler at if you have any questions or concerns.

School Lunch

Parents, school lunches are not free to all students this year due to the end of the federal waivers that supported this initiative during the pandemic. If a student needs free or reduced lunch, parents must fill out a Free and Reduced Lunch form on the new Titan Family Portal. Titan Family Portal is confidential and the quickest way to apply for Free and Reduced lunch benefits. Use this link to access the Titan Family Portal or download the Titan Family Connect app on your phone. All students will still receive a free breakfast every morning.

If you have filled this out in the past and not qualified, please fill it out again just in case. The more people we have fill out the form, the more resources our school can qualify for.

Are you interested in eating lunch with your student? You will need to sign up. Use this LINK to schedule your visit. Find your student's grade level on the signup and then select the day you'd like to visit for lunch. Feel free to bring lunch or eat from our cafe. Visitors eating lunch with students will come to the office and let us know you're here, we'll call student to the front office and then you can either go to the front picnic tables or the court yard picnic tables. No visitors are allowed in the cafeteria.

Transportation Updates

Please have your student's car tag showing/hanging to keep the line moving efficiently. Please keep to the right, we understand the road is unlined, but you will need to share the road with cars going in the opposite direction.

South Franklin is --> ONE WAY--> in the morning from 7:30-8:30am and in the afternoon 2:30-4pm. Once you drop off your student, please turn right off of Carl Wilkerson Loop. This will allow for smother and safer flow of traffic and still allow close residents to utilize the road as well. Thank you for following this traffic pattern.

Students who are in grades Kindergarten through 3rd must have an adult present at the bus stop. Students are not allowed to eat or drink on the bus. Please remind students to not bring toys on the bus. The toys become an issue in the classroom later in the day. No technology is allowed out on the bus to ensure the safety of our devices and noise control.

Congratulations to the following BUS RIDERS of the MONTH:
