What's New! Or Not So New!

We as a building have Pro licenses of EdPuzzle, Educreations and Pear Deck. All of these are incredible tools that will help build student engagement and allow interaction during the lesson. This month we are going to focus on EdPuzzle.

Edpuzzle is an easy-to-use platform where you can make any video your lesson. With just one click, you can find video lessons created by other teachers, including formative assessments! Another click and you can adapt that video by embedding your own questions or audio. With the final click, assign it to your students and get analytics: see who watched the video, who didn't understand the lesson and who did a good job. Students can re-watch the video as many times as they need at their own pace, while you can easily check their progress from your account.

With Edpuzzle, you can make any video your lesson in three easy steps:

  1. Find a video on YouTube, upload your own or re-use a video lesson created by another teacher.
  2. Then, edit the video to create your lesson. Record your voice to personalize it, and hold your students accountable by embedding questions in the video.
  3. Assign the video to your students and check their progress in real time while they learn at their own pace.

Flipgrid in the Classroom

We all know that students are addicted to videos. Whether it is YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat they are glued to what is going on through videos. Why not take what they know and create engaging classroom activities that can show off exactly what they know in the realm of video using Flipgrid! Below is a couple of articles. One is about the new features to FlipGrid and attached classroom activities that can be utilized and the other is 50 ways to use FlipGrid in your classroom.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held October 27th from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Teachers will have 15 minute conferences available for each student/parent that they set up an appointment with on that day. Administration will have more detailed information closer to conference time. Below are some articles with helpful hints when conducting conferences.

iLead Team

This year the iLead team would like to bring PBL back to the forefront but will also be looking at ways in which we can help teachers use the technology we have to enhance engagement in the classroom. The first meeting for the iLead team was held on September 19th. Because of the lack of subs and return of full career ladder we will be having meetings monthly instead of full day professional development days once a quarter. If you are interested in joining our iLead team please stop by and check us out.
