The Bennett Bulletin

April 2016

Our field trip to Discovery Place is coming up on May 11. We will leave at 6:45 am and return at 6:15 pm. So, be making arrangements to deliver your child super early for this fabulously fun learning adventure, and pick up at school much later than usual. More details will come closer to the date.

Please provide ear buds or head phones for your child. We use the laptops at school and videos, music, and games can be quite distracting to others without them.

We have just finished the BEST book, called Wonder. Ask your child to share! They can show you our class page on the BCS website. You can even read it for yourself and see videos and music referenced in the book. In canvas, the kids took quizzes. They should be able to show you their scores. We have been talking about "Choosing Kind" and have been committing random acts of kindness.

Your child has a new reading challenge for the last nine weeks. It should prove to be fun. Please look in the homework section of the binder for details.

In math we are working on decimals (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing them alone, and in word problems. We continue our practice with fractions as well.

We are beginning a new rotation in science- weather. It's pretty intense. You will have a little meteorologist on your hands by the time we conclude the unit. Ask your child weekly what they've learned and you will be impressed with how much they know.

As a grade level, overall, each review section of every science unit test has been really low. We are encouraging students to bring home their science journals and review nightly a few pages in their journals with a parent. Please help us with this endeavor. Our class will start next week. There will be quizzes in class.

During social studies we covered events leading to the Revolutionary War. We will cover the actual events of the war in this coming nine weeks.
