Meeting #2 - Soldier Girls
Soldier Girls by Helen Thorpe
Many of you may be familiar with Helen Thorpe for her novel turned play, Just Like Us (a story chronicling the lives of four hispanic, teen girls and their journey through high school in Denver).
Our second book club choice is Helen's second novel, Soldier Girls.
"From an award-winning, “meticulously observant” (The New Yorker), and “masterful” (Booklist) writer comes a groundbreaking account of three women deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, and how their military service affected their friendship, their personal lives, and their families. - See more at: http://books.simonandschuster.com/Soldier-Girls/Helen-Thorpe/9781451668100#sthash.lls7LCuK.dpuf"
