Fed Ex PD @ Austin
I want to give a quick "shout-out" for the learning taking place during our Austin Fed Ex PD time. The topics you are pursuing are relevant/meaningful and will greatly benefit our campus and our learners. I love reading through your thoughts and reflections. I encourage you read back through and see what your colleagues are exploring. Who knows what connections might be made between your learning and theirs?
*Also, please remember that these Today's Meet comments are what I use in granting the hour of Flex Time.
Pine Cove
Our 5th grade learners had another exciting and successful trip to Pine Cove for 3 days of outdoor learning. I would like to quickly recognize the work of the team of educators in making this a success.
- Thank you 5th grade team for your flexibility in helping organize this trip!
- Thank you Liz and Janie for lending your experience and time to make the trip a success.
- Thank you David for your flexibility and willingness to help.
- Thank you Brandon for your enthusiasm in going and help in planning.
- Thank you Lauren for the HOURS of prep that you put into making this trip a great experience for our kids!

Upcoming Math Opportunities
I am excited to share that we will be partnering with Region 10 to bring a math PD opportunity to Austin. In last year's summative conferences and this year's goal-setting conferences, several of you have shared that you are looking to grow in the area of differentiation within the math setting (especially for our ELLs and Economically Disadvantaged learners). This need is also reflected in our campus data. With that in mind, we will have a full day of Math Differentiation for each math educator on the following dates-
- 3rd-5th - November 4th
- K-2nd - November 11th
This training will focus on math differentiation within the context of our new math TEKS. More details will follow, but please mark this day if you teach math. Thank you!

Love & Logic Educator Training
Please remember that the Love and Logic training for educators will be Friday at 12:30-3:30 in the CHS Lecture Hall. This is a great way to target and improve the social/emotional environment of your classroom! Here are a few things that Charles Fay will address-
- Preventing and quickly managing common classroom disruptions
- Avoiding exhausting arguments and power-struggles
- Creating cooperative relationships with difficult students
- Helping students learn to keep themselves under control…so you can leave school at the end of each day with more energy and enthusiasm
3 hours of Flex Credit are available for attending. Registration is open in Eduphoria.

Standards Based Bulletin Boards
Our first round of SBBBs will be up by Monday. Please remember to Tweet your board using #AustinSBBB and "mention (@)" your appraiser. These boards provide a great window into your instruction and are an exciting way to provide your learners with feedback. Thank you all for the time you are putting into this.
Need some inspiration? Remember that you can search #AustinSBBB and see examples from last year.
