MYP update of the week
This week at Ramsey
In Ms. Fontana's ELA Workshop 7 class, we started brainstorming more information about the main character in the story students are writing. Students wrote about the character's motivations and obstacles; students also created a character collage to show important information and help the character "come alive" for our student authors. Students should read 100 minutes total for homework and turn in their homework bookmark reading log on Friday.
A note from our PTO and Parent Volunteers
Our next PTO meeting is Thursday, October 27 at 6:30. Ramsey is an IB ( International Baccalaureate) World School. The IB program at Ramsey is called MYP (Middle Years Program). “ The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.” It is a five-year program, and students who complete it are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Program in their junior/senior year in high school. Ms Fontana from our English department will report on what this means in the daily lives of our students at Ramsey. She will be first on the PTO agenda, so come in time to hear her speak and answer questions you may have. If you have gently used or new sharpened pencils, please bring them to the PTO meeting and put in our Pencil Box.
PLEASE COME TO OUR FAMILY FUNDRAISER at Culver’s Restaurant on University Avenue in the Midway on Tuesday, Oct 25, 4 - 8 pm. Attached is a flyer you need to present at Culver’s, or you can pick up a flyer in the school office. You must present the flyer (link here) for Ramsey to receive a % of your order. You can go through the drive thru or eat inside, and Culver’s does have a variety of foods, including soups and salads

Eye Exams for 6th graders -
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Your child will have their vision screened at school on October 28th, 2016. While this screening is designed to identify issues with your child’s vision, it is not considered a full eye exam. Parents/guardians will be notified if a child does not pass the screening test – at that time, your child should be seen by an eye care professional to further evaluate their vision.
The Early Youth Eyecare (E.Y.E.) Community Initiative, an outreach program of the Phillips Eye Institute, part of Allina Health, provides the screening and coordinates follow-up to ensure students receive timely access to eye care. The follow-up includes providing interpreter service, transportation, and financial assistance with eye exams and glasses, as necessary. The E.Y.E. Community Initiative is designed to help remove vision issues as a barrier to learning.
If you have any questions, or would not like your child to participate, please contact Maureen Hart-Horan our school nurse at (651) 888-7657.
