Flex Days Framework
Planning for 2016-2017
Where We Left Off
Sent to All Staff Prior to Spring Break:
Flex Days
Our 2016-2017 calendar has now been approved!
As you review it, you will see that there are 4 flex days at the beginning of the year. For the 16-17 school year, flex days will work like our retreat comp days---Each certified teacher who is on a 187 day contract will need to attend four professional development days or work days prior to our first day to report to work in the fall (August 15th for all returning staff).
Examples of sessions that will apply for flex days are:
- Curriculum writing
- Assessment writing
- GT training - in district or AP institute training
- HISD professional development sessions
An approval process will be available to submit for:
- Region 7 workshops
- Graduate coursework
- Professional development applicable to your position
- Work days
There will be a process for submitting flex day information to your campus principal. This process will be communicated in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we hope that knowing the types of days that you can use will be helpful to you.
