Characters
The main character was Finn who is a young boy in the south who had a slave named Jim that was very spiritual and he is the most responsible character. Finn also was more educated than most. he could read and write some. Finns dad is known as the town drunk and doesnt want Finn to have an education. There are many more characters that have small roles in the book.
Personal Review of the book
I thought the book was more drawn out than it needed to be. I also did not like the older slang talk from the south that was used. It had a good plot and over all the book wasn't bad. It does has its surprises and it can get very exciting so I would recommend it.
Favorite Passage
"Now she had got a start, and she went on and told me all about the good places. She said all a body would have to do there was to go around all day long with a harp and sing, forever and ever." I liked this passage for the religous part of it and she was describing heaven to young, confused boy.
