STAAR Week

It's time for our third, fourth, and fifth grade students to show-off their math, reading, and science skills on the STAAR, State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness. Thank you for keeping the building free of visitors during testing.


Monday: Math for ALL 3rd and 4th grade as well as 5th grade make-ups

Tuesday: Reading for ALL 3rd and 4th grade as well as 5th grade make-ups

Wednesday: 5th grade science as well as 3rd and 4th grade make-ups, if needed

Celebrations!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you to each of our PTA volunteers, parents, and students for the outpouring of love and appreciation last week! The delicious meals, treats, kind words of affirmation, and thoughtfulness given throughout the week was beyond humbling! The BES staff feels so honored to work with each of you! Thank you!
  • Thank you to each of you for attending Chick-Fil-A spirit night on Tuesday! What a delicious way to raise funds for our campus!
  • A big thank you to our two retiring staff members, Lisa Ware and Amy Watts, for their service to our staff and students! Both were recognized this past week at the GCISD Retirement Banquet.

Cafeteria Charges

No charging will be allowed starting May 9th. Students must have a positive balance in order to purchase items in the school cafeteria. Any student without a positive balance will receive an alternative meal at lunch. Please visit myschoolbucks.com to monitor account balances and set up low-balance email alerts. We appreciate your prompt attention in maintaining a positive meal balance. Additional information may also be found on the districts website www.gcisd-k12.org and Child Nutrition Facebook page.

Choose Your Own Adventure - GCISD Elementary Summer Programs

On Monday, March 28th, online registration will open for our Elementary GCISD Summer Programs which includes Summer Enrichment, KidzU Camps, and ECDC Camps. This summer we will offer courses for students completing K-6th grades. Our program brochure is available online on the Summer Enrichment page and a limited amount of printed brochures will be sent out to all elementary campuses the week of March 28th. If parents need assistance with the online registration or have questions, you can direct them to the Summer Programs Office which is located in the GCISD Tax Office this year. The number is (817) 251-5206 and the office will open Monday, March 28th.

Math Telescoping Exams

Testing opportunities for telescoping in math for the 2016-2017 school year are available in the spring and summer for GCISD students who are completing grades K through 7.


The Math Telescoping Information Packet will be available the first week in March on the district website under the For Parents and Students Directory by selecting the link for Acceleration Exams, Math Telescoping, Grades K-7. From the Assessment Department page select either the ENGLISH or SPANISH version for Math Telescoping, Grades K-7.


Parents will find information about the requirements to qualify for Math Telescoping and instructions about the new TWO STEP Online Registration Process. There will be links to print the Information Packet, begin the TWO STEP Online Registration Process to register for the spring exams, view the TEKS on the TEA website, and download Study Guides for the exams purchased from UT-Austin.
