Chester Elementary School
May 31, 2019
Greetings CES Families,
Fishing Opportunity June 1! Please see the attached flyer. June 1 from 8:00-12:00 at Canyon Dam students can enjoy a morning of fishing with several supporting agencies. Please consider attending. We hope to see this event continue in the upcoming years. (They will probably catch more fish than I ever catch!)
Ms. Whalen and her Drama Team have been working hard and are ready to showcase their talents with their Alice In Wonderland play. Performances are Saturday, June 1 at 6:00 pm and again on Sunday, June 2 at 2:00 pm. A big thanks and congratulations to the CES Drama Team, Ms. Whalen, Ms. Twitchell, Ms. Vaca + many more parents! We are thankful for our many volunteers and are proud of all of our students!
Mr. Mann and his students did an outstanding job last Thursday at their afternoon and evening concerts. Congratulations to all of our musicians, including our friends from CJHS who joined us and contributed to some enjoyable concerts! (They really grew in just 1 year!)
Please give us your feedback. We strive to continually improve and we would greatly appreciate a few (maybe only a couple) minutes of your time to answer our quick, anonymous 10 question CES Spring Survey. (We are also asking 3rd-6th graders to answer a brief anonymous survey.) You can click here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3MWLDXM or below to get started. Thanks for your time!
Start times in 2019-2020. We are exploring the idea of starting and finishing 10 minutes earlier next year, with a 1st bell at 8:05, and a release at 2:30 pm. (Monday release would be at 1:30). The vast majority of our students are already arriving at CES by 7:50 and the additional minutes would give us a little more cherished am learning time. Please let us know (email or call Nicole or Alan) if this would be a difficult transition for your family. Thanks for considering!
"How was your day at school?" We all know it's important to talk to your child about their school day. Ms. Crowther shared a sheet of 30 questions to ask your child. I've attached it to this newsletter. Check it out - creative and helpful. Thanks!
CES PTA is looking for new board members, along with more parents to join and help with the many sponsored events. Please fill out a nomination slip and put in the box in the main hallway by May 31st. Thanks so much PTA for an outstanding year! We appreciate you!
6th grade families - we'd like to invite you out to a fun, 6th graders vs. staff and parents softball (very soft ball) game on our last day of school at 11:15 am. We've done this at my previous schools and had a great time. There will be lots of trash talking and joking with our 6th graders one final time before we say goodbye and send them off to CJHS. They will definitely be missed - awesome class!
We need help! We are in desperate need of part time workers at CES to help out with our lunch duty (11-1) and substitute teacher aides. If you have some time during the day, enjoy being around young people and would like to make a little cash, then please let us know. Thanks for considering!
Our time is flying by this 2018-2019 school year as we enter the final 2 weeks of school! We have enjoyed having your child at CES and we appreciate the ongoing support and collaboration to provide an exceptional elementary experience for our students.
