EBE Home Connections
May 3, 2021
Message from Mr. Hanzeli
I hope this newsletter finds you all healthy and connecting more with friends and family. We all are reminded often in these days that those are the moments that matter most and will be with us forever.
On May 1 of a fully normal year, I would be sending along to you a parent input form so that you might share with our placement team (current teacher, specialists, Mr. H.) your thoughts on the class placement for your child in the coming year. Well, I am still going to send along that form (Eversion below for distance and paper copy to our AA/BB hybrid students.
Of course what is so different are all the unknowns of exactly the form school will take in September. I am super hopeful it can and will be some version of 5 days a week, but as a district, we are still obligated to monitor and appropriately and respond to all the health factors in the here and now and over the course of the summer. All of that makes knowing how many classes we will have at each grade a complicated prediction which in turn makes assigning teaching staff to grades impossible at this time.
With that, and with the hope I have shared above, I am sending along this "voluntary" form for you to consider filling out and returning to the office.
EBE Parent Placement Input Form
With great appreciation for each of you and your awesome children!

Good Afternoon, Families and Staff,
COVID Testing
We are pleased to announce that starting Monday, May 3rd, we will have the capacity to offer voluntary COVID testing to any symptomatic students and staff. Currently, if a student or staff member develops COVID-19 symptoms, that staff member or student and their sibling(s) need to stay out for 10 days or until the symptomatic student or staff member has a negative COVID-19 test. With our new capabilities, we can test these individuals, free of charge, at their school. This can lead to the quick isolation of positive individuals, hopefully preventing more exposure. More importantly, this can get our symptomatic students and their siblings back to school much sooner.
Beginning next week, if you call in to report that your student is ill with potential COVID-19 symptoms, you will be contacted by your school nurse, offering you testing for your student. You are still under no obligation to consent to this testing. It is simply a way for us to make it convenient for staff and students to get back to school.
Families will receive additional information/details in their upcoming school newsletters.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Next week is teacher appreciation week. Please join all of us in the district in showing our appreciation to our certificated staff: teachers, nurses, librarians, counselors, and specialists.

Superintendent’s Search Update
The application deadline for candidates to apply for the Superintendent position closed on April 24th. Twenty-three applications have been received. On Friday, April 30th, the School Board will meet in executive session to review the qualifications of these applicants for the Superintendent position (Board action is not taken in a closed executive session). On Saturday, May 8th, starting at 8:45 AM, the Board will hold a special open meeting to interview preliminary candidates. This meeting will be available to observe livestream or in-person. In-person attendance will be in a limited capacity, as we are required to adhere to health department guidelines. To register in advance to view the meeting livestream, please click on the link below.

The May 8th meeting agenda will be available early next week and will include links to preliminary candidates’ resumes and an online feedback form for each candidate.
