Avon Early Learning Center
Preschool 2022-2023
Dear AELC Families,
Welcome to the Avon Early Learning Center! I hope everyone had a relaxing summer and is ready for a great school year! I am excited to get to know our preschool and kindergarten students and families! Our staff has been working hard to prepare for an extraordinary 2022-2023 school year. We are looking forward to welcoming students in a few weeks!
I am honored to be the Principal at the Avon Early Learning Center. I’m looking forward to working with our phenomenal AELC staff! These passionate educators strive to provide our youngest Eagles with a positive start to their school experience in Avon. A little about me...this is my 2nd year as the AELC Principal. Previously, I spent 3 years serving as the Assistant Principal at Avon Heritage Elementary School. This will be my 23rd year in education with 18 years as a 2nd grade teacher in the Avon Lake City Schools. I live in Bay Village with my husband and two children. We love spending time as a family including our two dogs!
We look forward to meeting you and your child at Open House and thank you in advance for your support and partnership. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything or have any questions :)

Ages and Stages Questionnaire...
The Ages and Stages Questionnaire is a screening tool that will provide a quick check of your child’s development. The information you supply will help reveal your child’s strengths, uncover any areas of concern, and determine if there are community resources or services that may be useful to your child or your family.
The questionnaire includes questions about your child’s communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal social skills. Your child’s teacher will review the questionnaire, score them, and provide you results within the first few weeks of school. The results from the ASQ-3 will help you and your child’s teacher work together to develop specific learning goals for the school year.
Please click the link below to complete your child’s ASQ questionnaire. All families must complete this questionnaire at the beginning of each school year.

Office Procedures...
To promote safety, we will be limiting guests entering our Main Office areas. Therefore, parents needing to drop off items at the school will be doing so within the vestibule area, where a table will be set up to leave the marked item(s) example: lunchbox.
This table will also have a sign-in area if your child were to arrive late due to a given reason. Guests can always push the buzzer to ask questions with the office personnel. In the event your child is sick, the office will contact you directly.
If you’re signing your child out for the day, we will ask you to fill out a slip with the early dismissal reason. Once this has been completed, we will call for your child to come down. We do not call children down to the office until a parent arrives.
We ask that you ALWAYS have your ID ready whenever you are a visitor at our school. Please let your emergency contacts know as well!
PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)...
Students showing SOARing behavior can earn Eagle Bucks! Eagle Bucks are saved and can be used to shop at our SOAR cart. Students may buy little trinkets or they can spend their money on experiences like- saying the morning announcements, having time with the principal, using the principal's chair for the day, and much more.
IF students are not SOARing, students may speak with our principal Mrs. Fox. We believe in reflection, accountability, and teaching (and reteaching ) appropriate choices- making each moment we spend with children a teachable one. We appreciate all your support in advance!
