Charger Check-In

A Note from Ms. Owens
Our spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are calendared for next week - Thursday, February 13 from 1-4PM. This is an excellent opportunity to have an in-person conversation with your child's teacher to discuss your child's progress and how you can work together to support your child's success.
- Conferences are scheduled with either a teacher or a parent request.
- By today, every family should have received a form from their student's teacher(s).
- If your child's teacher has requested a conference, please indicate a time that is feasible for you and return the form to the teacher.
- If you would like to conference with your child's teacher, you should indicate that on the form and include a time that is feasible for you. Then return the form to the teacher.
In today's White Envelope, parents of students in 4th-8th grade should have received a form discussing a survey - the 3 Cs survey - that schools in the Chicago Archdiocese will be sharing with students, parents and faculty. The form you received allows you to opt your child out of participating in the survey. The survey will open on Tuesday, February 18. Parents will receive a link via email. The survey is a result of a partnership between the Archdiocese and the University of Chicago. All responses will be collected anonymously and will go directly to the university. The school will only receive summaries of the data - not actual responses. The information will help our school identify our strengths and our potentials areas for growth. I highly encourage all families and included students to participate in the survey.
Here's what's coming up this week:
- Tomorrow - 7th Grade Field Trip to Oak Lawn Library
- Tomorrow - Blessing of the Throats at All-School Mass
- Tomorrow night - Pack the House for Boys Basketball - first game at 5:30PM

Thank you for all you do to support the St. Catherine community!
Peace,
Kristine Owens
Fever Free for 24-Hours
Like so many other institutions, St. Catherine is experiencing a higher than normal number of students being called in due to illness. Thank you so much to those parents who are keeping their children home when they are sick. As a reminder, the following is taken from page 21 of SCA's Parent-Student Handbook:
Children should be kept home when they exhibit symptoms of:
- A fever or signs of a fever (chills, feeling very warm, flushed appearance, or sweating).
- Students should not return to school until they have been fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
- An illness that has caused vomiting or diarrhea during the previous 24 hours, unless the vomiting/diarrhea is known to be caused by a condition that’s not contagious.
- A severe cold or cough

"Keep the Dream Alive" Raffle
Our "Keep the Dream Alive" Raffle has returned!
Tickets are $100 per ticket. Only 2,000 tickets are sold.
Grand Prize Raffle is May 3, 2020 after 9:00 AM mass.
Early Bird Raffles are March 6 and April 3 At 6:00 PM at the Fish Fry. There will be two (2) tickets for $1,000 each pulled at each Fish Fry.
Tickets are sold after all the Masses on weekends, in the school office, in the rectory, through Ticket Captains and on GiveCentral.
We strongly encourage each family to sell at least three (3) tickets. This is an opportunity to ask friends, family members and work colleagues for their support. Sharing the purchase of a ticket is another way to participate. As it is the school families who will directly benefit from this raffle, we are asking each family to work to sell as many tickets as possible.
After selling three (3) tickets, school families will receive one chance in our school-only tuition incentive raffle for each Dream raffle ticket they sell. As long as the raffle is a sell-out success, you will have a chance at winning a tuition credit of $4,950 for the 2020-2021 school year! To be qualified for this raffle, your family name must be listed as ticket seller.
New this year, all families that sell five (5) will receive a Golden Ticket Dress Down pass for all children in the family. Golden Ticket Dress Down passes can be used any day that is NOT a field trip day or Mass day.
All buyers must be over 18 years of age to win.
All prize winnings in the raffle and tuition incentive are subject to taxes. An order form to purchase tickets is available at the button below. Please return all order forms with payment to the school office. Tickets will then come home each week in the White Envelope.

Girls on the Run
Family Mass for 3rd Grade
There are opportunities for students to participate more actively in the Mass by being a reader or gift bearer. There are also opportunities for families to help make the morning special by participating in one of the hospitality roles – set-up, serving, clean -up or baking.
We hope all of our students and their families will join us as we pray together and then gather for social time in Kane Hall.
Please use the link below to sign up your student for a role in the Mass or yourself as
part of the hospitality team.
Queen of Hearts Raffle
The incentive for this week's drawing is a chance to win $500 toward a loan, bill, or tuition.
So Many On-going Ways to Support St. Catherine!
Orders will resume in March.
February Specials - Sweet Heart Feature
Tuesday Hot Lunch Ordering
The link for placing hot lunch orders is below. Please remember that ordering closes at noon the day before delivery.
There will, of course, be days when parents have ordered a hot lunch and their child is absent. On those days, parents (or another designated person) are welcome to pick up the child's lunch. In order for this to happen, parents must notify the school of the hot lunch pick-up prior to 11 AM and then the actual lunch must be picked up before 12:30 PM. We cannot keep lunches beyond that or send them home with students due to food safety regulations.
