Happy Friday Lake Forest Community High School! As we end this busy week, another heartfelt thank you to our parent organizations APT, Booster Club, PALS/Applause and the LFHS Foundation for organizing an incredible faculty and staff appreciation week! We are also thankful to the community businesses who supported our celebration!

As I reflect on the week since my last Fanscout, it certainly feels like a whirlwind. From a beautiful prom night to several senior nights and events to a visit from some of our rising Scouts, weeks like these that are filled with all things student life are the absolute best. With many more events to come, Honors Night, and of course, graduation on our beautiful lawn–there is so much more to celebrate in our community over the coming weeks.

Everyone is Invited to Pitch Night 2023! LFHS Foundation is thrilled to be hosting the 9th Annual Pitch Night at LFHS on Thursday, May 18th at 7 PM in the RMA. The teams selected to compete at the event will be announced on Friday, May 12th. Lifeworking will host a Trial Pitch Night on May 16th so the teams competing can work on their presentations. This year we will also hear from Brush Bestie, the 2021 Foundation Cup winners, and Simply Nav, the 2022 Foundation Cup winners. These teams will share their post Pitch Night experiences. 2023-2024 First Semester Senior Parking will be open for registration from Monday May 15 - Friday May 26 2023 until 11:59 p.m. CST.

Lottery winners are announced the week of June 5, 2023, and refunds will be issued to those who did not make the lottery.

Please note:
Student parking at Lake Forest High School is open to all students during their senior year. All vehicles are required to have a current parking tag on their windshield at all times between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Parking spots are assigned by a random lottery system with a cost of $635 a semester. Only students who will be seniors at the time of semester parking can enter the parking lottery. Students will be notified that the lottery is open through their school email and Schoology announcements.

First Semester Parking dates are from August 22, 2023, to December 22, 2023. Parking Guidelines

ONLY SENIORS (Class of 2024) can apply for a parking permit.

• All applications received by the due date will be considered in the lottery (no late applications will be accepted).

• If more seniors apply than the number of available spots, a lottery will be held. The lottery is done by a computer-generated program.

• Seniors will be notified of lottery results (via the notification email provided on the registration)

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
School authorities may inspect and search school property and equipment owned or controlled by the school (including parking lots). THERE IS NO REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY IN THIS AREA, WHICH INCLUDES STUDENT VEHICLES PARKED ON SCHOOL PROPERTY.
- Students who abuse their parking privileges will have their parking space revoked.

It is time to plan your senior yearbook portrait! Everyone can have their portrait taken for free at LFHS during yearbook portrait days. A private session is not required. If you prefer a private session, you can make an appointment with VIP for a fee. Please see flyer for more information.

Please join us in-person or virtually for our next D67 and D115 Parent Series on Transition Planning on Monday, May 15 at 12:00 pm. During our meeting, Amy Engstrom, Transition Specialist from TrueNorth will be available to answer any of your questions related to transition planning (employment, work experiences, education, independent living, and transition linkages). LFHS Reads is an easy way to connect with students, faculty, and staff members: have the book delivered to you, read it over the summer, and talk about it with students on a collaboration day in the fall.

This summer, Mr. Andrew Waple is leading a four-day exploration of Chicago for students into the city to learn about its amazing history, architecture, and culture. An experienced tour guide and former Chicago History teacher, he hopes to give students a more well-rounded view of what makes Chicago such a great city. Our latest issue of Forest Scout Friday

The City of Lake Forest is looking for community input to help develop a Master Plan for Northcroft Park. During the first phase of the process, we’re gathering input to better understanding how residents currently use the park and identify opportunity for improvements.

The City is planning to host a meeting titled “Planning and Pizza in the Park” on Wednesday, May 24 from 4-6 pm at Northcroft Park, located at 1365 South Ridge Rd. Drop-in anytime to participate in interactive activities for adults and children, grab some pizza, and help shape the future of Northcroft Park!
