Are Taoist principles relevant to the issues of everyday life today?
The principles that have come from Taoism are not very relevant anymore in our time. The believe of to be one with nature, life is good, and their philosophy to gain balance in life just isn't what people are trying to do anymore. That's not to say that in other places in the world don't still believe in these principles because they do. It's just that in major developed countries the majority of the population do not try to accomplish these principles.
How do the individual principles/maxims of each philosophy connect to each other to form an entire religion/way of thinking?
These religions principles and believes come together because not of how similar they are but, because of how different they are. While one believes in structure and order the other believes that to be at peace you need to be connected to nature. Because of their differences they are like yin and yang. Different enough not to be like the other but , be able to live side by side and not fight.
