Time for Spring Cleaning
The beautiful weather this weekend reminds me that it is finally Spring! And with the arrival of Spring, it's time to do a little spring cleaning. Below are some tips curated from Twitter to easily clean up your Google Drive (follow the hashtag #springcleandrive):
- @alicekeeler says: Do a search in Drive for "Untitled" -->Select the first file, press P to preview it. Then either rename the file or trash it.
- @SantosTechCoach says: Color code your folders, add numbers or emojis to your most used folders, and more in THIS PRESENTATION.
- @MmeBurgess & @GTTribe say: Check who has access to your files and folders in Drive using the website https://www.whohasaccess.com/. I bet you'll find someone you didn't remember sharing with!
Panel Power & Lock
Over the past few weeks, I've gotten several questions about "the right way" to power down your panel at the end of the day. To clarify what needs to happen every day, here's the 2-step process to follow:
- Shut down the computer just like you do your laptop (Windows > Power > Shut down).
- Turn off the monitor (the Power button on the front of the panel).
You don't need to flip the rocker switch on the back every day. If you touch the keyboard or the panel, the monitor may come back on, but that's ok. Just leave it alone and it will shut down again.
Another question I've had is if you need to lock your panel when you leave the room as long as your door is locked. The answer is ABSOLUTELY YES! While you may lock your door, there are other people who have access to your room and the only way to be certain that your info is secure is to lock the panel AND your laptop. There are two ways to do this (process is the same on the panel and on your laptop:
- On the keyboard, press the Windows key + L.
- Or, you can go to Windows>Person>Lock on the laptop/panel itself.
Either way is fine, just make you lock when you leave the room and shut down at the end of the day. I hope that helps to clarify for you!
