Early Life
Lincoln's early life was very difficult. He was born on February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, Kentucky. He had one brother and one sister. Their names were Thomas and Sarah. Unfortunately, Thomas died during infancy. Abraham's education was so important to him he walked two miles to school. There he learned the basics including reading, writing, and arithmetic. His early job was being a carpenter and a farmer.

Before that shocking moment, Lincoln accomplished many things. He married a woman named Mary. He was also elected president for his Emancipation Proclamation.
