A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
I am excited to tell you that the first two days of the 2019-2020 school year has been excellent. As always, opening school can be chaotic and stressful for our students. However, we feel that this year we are all, students, faculty and staff, in a good place. We spent the first two days of class time learning and getting to know our students. We believe this will be beneficial to building not only the academic structure but fostering meaningful relationships with one another as well.
It is our goal to provide your student with a safe school, a clean school, and an engaging school with a high level of academic expectations. We are privileged to have the opportunity to educate your children. The faculty and staff have spent hours preparing our campus for this year’s opening, but when the students arrived yesterday our building became a school. Thank you.
Here are a few items to keep in mind as the month progresses. Some of these events will be very important for you to attend.
- The last day to request a schedule change request is today, August 9th. Students received information on their blue schedule about requesting a change. Our administrative team will review those requests and, if approved, changes will begin on Monday, August 12th. If the change is approved, your student will hear from the counselor through school email.
Next Wednesday, August 14th is our first late start Wednesday- classes will begin at 9:05 am, buses will run one hour later than normal scheduled times. RC3 students will board the buses for RC3 at 9:05 at the bus lane.
Grade level class meetings will be held on Wednesday, August 14th during our JAG period. These meetings are designed to inform your student about any changes in school policies, procedures and the HCS Code of Conduct.
Senior night with Mr. Tracy Prater, College and Career Specialist. Thursday night, August 15, 2019- 6:00-7:00 in the SPHS Theater.
Open House, August 22, 2019- 6:00-7:30. Please be sure to bring a copy of your student’s schedule. You will have the evening to walk your student’s schedule and meet their teachers. More details to come as we get closer to the date.
The first SPHS football game will be August 23, 2019, at Hillcrest High School. Please check the SPHS Athletics website for Volleyball, CrossCountry, Swimming and Diving, and Cheer events.
As we go through the year, there will be times when you feel it necessary to voice your concerns to me. Please feel free to call or email at any time. I look forward to serving you and your student this school year.
Sincerely,
Peter L. Giangrosso
