Planning Ahead for Multiplication and Division
In December we will be starting to learn how to multiply and divide. Please encourage your child to practice his/her facts on a regular basis.
Flash cards and online games are a great way to enhance their skills. Students will continue to build math skills using theses facts as a founding in the upper grades. Recalling facts quickly is very important.
Reading Tip of the Month
“Genre” (zhan-re) is a French word for literary or writing style. There are 11 main genres of literature that the average third grader will read. They are:
· Historical fiction
· Mystery
· Realistic fiction
· Science fiction
· Fantasy
· Humor
· Folk Tale
· Mythology
· Poetry
· Informational
· Biography/Autobiography
Try to get your child to read from all types of genres! Don't get in a "genre rut"!
Winter Parties
New Playground and Jacket Reminder
Also, as the cold weather approaches we still go outside as long as it is above 32 degrees, so please send your child with a proper winter coat, hat and gloves. Sweatshirts are not always warm enough on those days where it is in the 30's and we go outside. Let us know if you need help getting your child a coat. Thank you!
