2018 SUMMER LEADERSHIP AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY
FHS student Max Wilson has been slowly working on his future career - he would like to become a NAVY JAG. He has been training with the Marines for the past couple of months and has undertaken a law internship thanks to Mr. Hall's law program.
Max was recently recommended for the highest select Marines Academy in Quantico by his Unit. Max has been selected along with only 200 other Seniors nationwide to attend the Leadership and Character Academy in Quantico.

Texas State Junior Classical League Results
Several Friendswood Latin students recently attended both the Houston Area Junior Classical League convention and the State Junior Classical league convention in Dallas. All students are awarded based on their level of Latin, except for the art categories, in which the students make various pieces of art inspired by the classical world. Congratulations to the following students for their achievements at one or both events.
- Abi Ardoin - 1st Place for Greek Derivatives, 1st Place for her original cartoon, 2nd place for her original poem at Area; 3rd Place for Greek Derivatives at State

Octathlon team meet results
The FHS Octathletes dominated in their regional meet at Seven Lakes High School in Katy ISD. As a team we won 4th place overall, beating our rival team by over 3000 points! Additionally, we won 2nd place in the Super Quiz Relay event which required students to work together to answer rigorous and complicated test questions with only 10 seconds per question.
Finally, our students won 19 individual medals! Congratulations to each of these students for their hard work! We are incredibly proud of them.

TEEN CERT--BP MS 150
Saturday, April 28, 2018, five (5) students from the clinical rotations course that recently completed the TEEN CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) program assisted with the BP MS 150. These students were stationed at a break point where they assisted with helping bikers safely enter and exit the break point. These students also offered words of encouragement to the bikers.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame ended the 50th Year Celebration of Musical Theatre with the biggest amount of wins bringing home 10 of the 15 Tommy Tune Awards. Congratulations to all!

Theatrical Design Students at the State Meet
Congratulations to Jordan Anderson, Nancy Otto, Meredith Fraga, and Sydney Oller on a great showing at the Theatrical Design State Meet. Their designs will be displayed in the glass case at the front of the school.

Girls Track and Field
The girls track teams did very well this past month at the 24-6A District track meet.
Varsity girls placed 6th overall with 45 points. This is very impressive considering the team consisted of 5 young ladies. All 5 ladies will be moving on the Area track meet in their events:

- Christi Wood: 4th in Discus / Area qualifier

- Olivia Theall: 2nd in 800m run / 6th in 1600m run / Area qualifier for the 800m run
Again, they scored 45 points among the 5 of them! Great job ladies!

Girls Golf
Congratulations to Heidi Demel (10) and Hannah Johnston (9) competed in the Regional Tournament the last 2 days and represented FHS well. They competed in a very competitive 6A regional field.
- Heidi Demel shot 85/77 over the two days. She finished 15th out of 96 golfers.
- Hannah Johnston shot 91/80 to finish 28th.
Both girls qualified for the Regional Tournament. Heidi shot 85/77 to finish 15th overall. Hannah Johnston shot 91/80 to finish 28th overall.
Varsity District Region Qualifier
Varsity Tennis - april 23
Congratulations to Quinn Radtke and Ethan Bui who finished a very nice run in the Regional tournament on Friday. They began the tournament with a dominant win against Kingwood (6-0, 6-2) in the first round Thursday. They gutted out a tough win against Houston Lamar in the quarterfinals (7-5 7-5) In the semifinals on Friday, we were able to out position 2nd seeded Cy Ranch (6-4 6-2). In the finals, we fell in a tough match against 3rd seeded Seven Lakes (6-4, 2-6, 6-0). We had to go the playback route and lost there to top seeded Clear Lake (6-2 6-2). This leaves us in 3rd place and technically alternates to the state tournament. For all intents and purposes, this concludes the on court portion of our individual spring season! Congratulations to a season well played!
