Ventricular Assist Devices
How do they help us today ?
The Ventricular Assist Device partially or completely replace the function of a failing heart. This device takes blood from a lower chamber of the heart and helps pump it to the body and vital organs, just as a healthy heart would. This product is used on Earth when people in need of a heart transplant have to wait a long time to get a transplant. The Ventricular Assist Device did change when it was adapted for use on Earth , it went from a rocket engine to a device that replaces a heart.
