Biotechnology
the use of living cells, bacteria, etc to make useful things
What is the role of DNA in biotechnology?
The role of DNA is played in biotechnology because the genes of an organism are changed during the process and the DNA of the organism is then combined again.
How is biotechnology used in DNA testing?
The use of biology has completely changed how medicine works today. There has been many advantages since DNA has been involved in biotechnology. There are things now like DNA testing that involves both DNA and biotechnology.
How is biotechnology used in agriculture?
You can copy another organism's genetic material, usually you would use genes from another kind or species, to try to produce the traits that you want in the organism.
How is biotechnology used in the health industry in making medicines like penicillin and insulin?
Insulin was previously extracted from the pancreas of abattoir animals. Biotechnology has helped us develop new things in science like development of pharmaceutics therapies and diagnostic tests. Modern biotechnology can be used to make medicines more quickly and for a cheaper price. We can now understand how to develop medicines for previous diseases that could not be cured.
How is biotechnology used in environmental clean-up (bioremediation)?
When doing environmental cleaning, things called microbes break down many of the chemicals in the environment. You can use microbes to clean up oil or chemical spills. Another way is to use bio pulping which is when you use certain fungi to soften wood chips when you are in the process of making paper. Bio pulping is still experimental, but it could save energy and use less chemicals.

What are the potential negative impacts of biotechnology?
The negative impacts of biotechnology could be: The development of harmful chemicals, threats to human health and changes in the geography of agricultural production can occur. (These are only a few examples)
Name a career in the field of medicine and provide a summary of what that person does for a living.
Nurse; Nurses are important in hospitals, peoples homes, and in clinics. They care for the patient and they can supply medicine to help treat them. The role of a nurse is very important, the things they do are give medicine, communicate with doctors, give IVs, care for the patient, absorb and record how the patient is doing, provide support to the patient and even their families, provide physical therapy if needed, and educate the patients on their disease, virus, etc.
