Reminders:
- Data dive meetings are now scheduled for 2/21, 2/23 and 2/24. Please see the selected dates in the calendar area.
- After looking at the data, please be sure to have your children working on My Path for 30-50 minutes each week. This is a great resource to help with the iReady Scores. They should be working on this during Guided Reading rotations.
- Thanks to Team 4 for the delicious chili luncheon. It was much appreciated.
- Guided Reading should be happening every day! You don't need to meet with all groups daily but pay special attention to those that are below grade-level.
- Please look at your displays outside your classroom. Student work should be displayed. Please update bulletin boards. If you need more clothes pins, please come see Tara. Let's make our school warm and inviting. Some of our displays are looking a little tattered.
- This is an IMPORTANT reminder that we must upload grades every two weeks. We should not have any subject areas that do not have any grades in them at this time. Also, there must be a minimum of 5 process grade and 5 product grades. Please keep in mind, that if you are asking for students to get extra help in the form of a tier 2 or SST plan, they should not be earning honor roll. We have to show what our students can do independently. On the flip side of that, putting in grades where everyone received a perfect score is not a true indication of what they can do. Please take time to look over your gradebooks.
- Please remember you may not take the entire recess for a student. You may take up to 15 minutes. If a child loses all of their recess for disciplinary reasons, that would be addressed by administration.
- The Staff Compliment Box that Todd mentioned at the staff meeting is in the lounge.
- Please be sure to call parents prior to completing an Office Referral in Synergy. You should be the first contact before Admin. You can then tell the parents why their child is getting a referral and that Admin will be in touch for the consequences.
- Please remember that staff hours at 8:50am-4:20 pm. You must sign in and sign out using the Scholarchip if you are leaving the building for any reason.
Gradebook Requirements
1. Make sure you are updating your grades in Synergy every 2 weeks on payday Friday.
2. Remember the new sale is reported in Product and Process Grades
· Product: enter a minimum of 5 grades per quarter
· Process: enter a minimum of 5 per quarter
3. Primary grades: consider using the CD, DE, NI scale in your gradebook when entering grades. Synergy calculates these grades differently than percentages.
4. When assessing students, please make sure that your test/quizzes have more than 5 questions. This gives the children the opportunity to get a passing grade even if they miss one question.
5. Special Areas: give at least a participation grade when you meet with children. Also, you should have at least 5 Process and 5 Product grades (test/ classwork) to enter in the gradebook in the 18-week semester that you see the children. Only having one summative assessment for the entire semester is not fair for the children or does it accurately show the children ability in your classroom.
6. Remember homework is no longer scored. Homework will not be included in the academic grade for any grade level or content. Homework cannot be considered a valid measure or reflection of student learning and performance, as the environment and support provided during completion cannot be controlled and can vary greatly. Homework completion can be communicated through the appropriate performance indicators under the Personal Responsibility section of the report card.
7. You only need to enter 1 grade per month into the Health gradebook. You may enter more if you choose to. Students will only receive a Health grade in quarter 4, reflecting an overall grade for the year.
