St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 8/20/21
What a fantastic first week of school for our K-8 students!
Next week will be a lot of fun with our Preschool and Pre-K students starting and our K-8 students having full days!
One of the highlights of the week this week was being able to have our entire K-8 school community come together today for Mass. An additional bonus was that today's Gospel passage was one of my favorite messages from Christ. In the simplified kid-version I provided for our students after Mass, Christ tells us that they key to life is to Love God and Love Everyone. These two practices will be the core of our campus and will center all we do this year.
My greatest highlight of the week, however, was the birth of my son on Sunday evening. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. Jonah Oscar Amann was born on Sunday, August 15th. He was 21 inches and 7 lbs. 1 oz. He and mom are doing well and our two older kids are loving having the little guy in their lives. There will be days in the coming weeks and months where I will not be on campus. On those days, I will be happily be at home with Jonah and my wife. Thank you for your understanding and patience if I am not replying to emails as quickly as I usually do on those days.
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, August 23: First Day of Preschool/Pre-K; First Full Day for K-8; K-8 After school Daycare Begins; Interested Fall Sports Coaches Meeting (6pm)
- Tuesday, August 24: Field/Playground Blessing and Ribbon Cutting (8am); Fall Festival Planning Meeting (Any Interested Committee Members Welcome, 5:30pm)
- Wednesday, August 25:
- Thursday, August 26
- Friday, August 27: K-8 Half Day; Dine and Donate for Preschool/Pre-K: Kona Ice on Campus (12pm)
Blessings,
Mr. Amann

Dine and Donate: Kona Ice 8/27
Every month, our PTG will host one Dine and Donate event to benefit each of our classes.
For August, Preschool/Pre-K will be the beneficiaries of our Dine and Donate.
On Friday, the Kona Ice truck will be on campus on the basketball court starting at noon.
If you have an 11:30am pickup for preschool, you are welcome to walk over and get Kona ice.
If you do not have an 11:30am pickup for preschool, you can still send your child with $5 and the teachers will take them over to get a Kona Ice to go with their lunch.
For K-8 students, this will be happening during dismissal. If you plan on having your child get Kona Ice, please park in either parking lot and walk on to campus. If you are coming through the car line and your child is in line for Kona Ice, I will have to ask you to park and wait for them.
The price is a flat $5 and there is a single size for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your support!
