The Weekly Connection
Updates from the Principal's Office - February 27th, 2022
Message from Mrs. Jones
Welcome back! I hope that you have enjoyed the opportunity to rest and spend time with friends and loved ones this week.
Girls Basketball
A huge congratulations to our Girls Basketball team on their CIF Championship win on Friday evening!
Honor Roll
Congratulations to the 874 students who achieved Honor Roll (3.0-3.49), High Honor Roll (3.5-3.99), or Distinguished Honor Roll (4.0+) during the Fall 2021 Semester! If you missed the celebration on Friday 2/18, please stop by the Principal's Office to pick up your award during nutrition or lunch!
Course Selection for 2022-23
If your student is going into grades 10-12, they'll need to log into the student portal, select "Classes" from the menu, and select "Course Request Entry" in order to select next year's classes. Please be sure to fill in the alternate course requests section! Beginning this week, students will be coming to the library with their English classes to meet with counselors in order to review their selections and ask any questions prior to finalizing the process. If you'd like a preview of some of the classes we offer, please check out the link below. A big thank you to Mr. Herring and our film students for working with departments and programs to create this collection of videos!

Reminders for the Week
As we continue our focus on supporting our students toward being Effective Communicators & Collaborators, I would encourage you to check in with your student about their academic progress, since this week also marks the end of our first progress reporting period of 2nd semester. If you have concerns about your student's progress, please reach out to the teachers on their schedule; email is typically the best option for connecting directly.
Additionally, as I shared last weekend, students will attend a Drug Abuse Awareness & Prevention Presentation during the school day on Wednesday, March 2nd. If you would like to attend the correlating parent workshop, please check the "Events" section below for times and locations for both the English and Spanish workshops.
