The Early Years of George Lucas
He was born on May 14, 1944 in California. He was the son of Dorothy Ellinore Lucas (1913–1989) and George Walton Lucas, Sr. (1913–1991), who owned a stationery store. He is of German Swiss. George Lucas made comic books as a kid. He made lots of comic books which were a great success. George had a passion for cars and motor racing, but then was interested in film making from being inspired as a kid to make American Graffiti. Long before Lucas became obsessed with film making, he wanted to be a race-car driver, and he spent most of his high school years racing on the underground circuit at fairgrounds and hanging out at garages.
The Beginning of his Career
Since George had so much success with his comic books, he wanted to make a movie. His fist film was THX 1138 and it was released in 1974, and it was a great success. College Education
George went to the University of California Film School. He went to film making classes. George always was listening to the teacher so he always stayed on topic. He also attended Modesto Junior College. But, in the end, he graduated from University of Southern California.
The Big Change
In 2012, George Lucas sold Lucas Film for 4 billion dollars to Walt Disney. He sold it to Walt Disney because he loved Disney when he was a kid. His favorite charterer was Goofy. He sold the rights, but he still gets credit. When he sold his film company, people thought STAR WARS would be over. However, the STAR WARS movies are still being made.

June 12, 1962-A terrible car accident nearly claims George's life.
1966-George graduates from the University of Southern California film school.
1969-George marries Marcia Griffin.
1971-THX 1138, George's fist featured film, is released.
1973-George has his first major success with the release of American Graffiti.
May 25, 1977-Star Wars released, winning 7 Academy Awards making $775 million.
