Our Lady of Lourdes School T1, 2022
Nau mai, Haere mai, Welcome to Term1: Week 5
HELLO, KIA ORA, KIA ORĀNA, MALO E LELEI, TALOFA, NAMASTE, KUMUSTA...
Blessings to you all on this SHROVE TUESDAY, the day before ASH WEDNESDAY. We know there is a lot going on for you all at the moment and we continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers. We are very fortunate that we have had no direct Covid positive cases in our school to date, and we are truly grateful for this. We continue to have split interval and lunch times, keeping our classrooms well ventilated, using good hygiene practises and giving our children/tamariki opportunities to get outisde.
We pray for peace and calmness here in our beautiful part of the world and for those affected by what is happening in other parts. As we say to the children here - we are Jesus' heart, voice and hands - let us do all that we can to live with MERCY, COMPASSION, RESPECT, HOSPITALITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE and STEWARDSHIP as we are all part of this precious world.
COVID UPDATE
Please know we will be in touch if we get a positive case in the school. Last Friday, children all received their hard packs for when they may need to isolate, which we will add to should that be necessary. Teachers we will use the SEESAW app to keep in touch with you if and when we may need to move into a mixture of onsite and offsite learning if our numbers are split for those at home and at school. Please make sure you check in with our school app (SchoolAppsNZ), our website or facebook. We will also send home emails should that be required as well.
Again, our thanks for your support as we journey together in these uncertain times. You are always in our prayers.
Go gently, take good care of each other, being a person of MERCY in our world.
Blessings

CATHOLIC CHARACTER - THE SYNOD
A global invitation
During this significant time in the Church’s history, Pope Francis invites ALL of us to reflect on our faith journey and share our vision for the future of the Catholic Church. Our diocese is currently asking people to share their voice and to listen to one another as part of this process.
This is an invitation to participate and explain how your school community can be part of this important moment.
Getting Involved
The Catholic School community, including all staff, students and whānau, is a very important part of the Diocese of Palmerston North. We hope as many people as possible from across our school communities are able to be involved in the local phase of the Synod, which is currently underway.
Involving whānau
In addition to the participation of students in this process, we would love to hear the important voice of our whānau/families connected to our schools. Below are some ways that you might be able to share this opportunity with your students' whānau.
- Information for whānau/families could be included in newsletters and through your school app. An example blurb is included in the ‘Classroom Resource’ and on our website. You are welcome to adapt or add to. You could also share this video invitation with parents in your digital communication to your school community: https://youtu.be/A7l3OE7JVkU
Contact us at synod@pndiocese.org.nz or visit our webpage https://pndiocese.org.nz/synodinschools for resources, information about how to make submissions and downloads.
Thank you for all that you do.
