Weekly RAM Newsletter
From the desk of Principal Mills - Sunday, October 2nd, 2022
Happy Sunday Ram Families!
I hope this newsletter finds you all well and enjoying this first weekend of October! It's hard to believe September is already over and the first quarter and grading period are wrapping-up in 3 weeks on Friday, October 21st! Please have your student check their Canvas and StudentVue pages to make sure they have their assignments turned in and missing work accounted for before grades are calculated on 10/21. You can ask your student for an update on their grades on Monday evenings - we have students complete a weekly Grade Check in their Ram class every Monday so they have a pulse on their current status in each class.
Thank you to all of our TPMS families that made it out to Snapdragon Stadium on Friday night for the SD Wave soccer game! It was great to see so many Rams in the stands enjoying the game together... a big THANK YOU to Coach Spy for all of her efforts in setting up the ticket sales for TPMS. Check out a few pictures of our group below.
Congratulations to all of our 7th 8th grade AVID students for participating in their AVID Induction Ceremony this past Thursday. Thank you to all of our TPMS parents and family members that were present for this special rite of passage in our students' AVID journey. A huge shout-out to our AVID teachers - Mrs. Matautia, Mrs. Allen, and Mrs. Shewmaker for their leadership of the event, and to all of our counselors and teachers who attended and supported the evening. Please check out a few pictures of the candle lighting ceremony below.
DON'T FORGET - WE HAVE 2 MINIMUM DAYS THIS WEEK!! Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th are both MINIMUM DAYS and will have 12:35pm release times. The TPMS staff will be participating in professional learning both afternoons, so the main office hours will be limited to 7:30am-1:00pm on both days. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
Our Food and Nutrition Services offers a free breakfast to students a half hour before school starts each morning, and are now offering a free "late breakfast" to students during our morning break, each day Monday through Friday. In order to accommodate the late breakfasts every day, we have adjusted our Wednesday late start schedule by 2 minutes to extend the brunch period to 10 minutes. With only an 8 minute brunch on Wednesday morning, our Food and Nutrition Services were unable to serve a late breakfast option to students on Wednesday mornings. The passing periods between lunch and Ram class have been reduced from 5 to 4 minutes each to allow for the additional 2 minutes to be added to brunch. The Wednesday late start bell schedule has been updated and is available HERE on the TPMS website. Our apologies for this late bell adjustment; a required 10 minute brunch for a late breakfast opportunity was not known when bell schedules were created last spring.
Finally this week, we have experienced a sharp increase in the number of students arriving late to school each day, some mornings with over 50 students arriving after the starting bell. I understand that the traffic in and around school in the morning is usually difficult to navigate and can be very busy, but please make every effort to have your student to school before 8:25am so that they have time to get to their class before it starts at 8:30am. Thank you in advance for leaving home a few minutes earlier to make sure your students are on time for the beginning of school each day.

No Place for Hate: Resolution of Respect
We are excited to share that Twin Peaks Middle School has received the No Place for Hate designation from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for the last five years. To earn this recognition, schools must invite all students and staff to sign the Resolution of Respect and complete three school-wide lessons. To start the conversation this year, our Ram community will review and sign the Resolution of Respect this Thursday, Oct. 6th during Ram.
Q & A
Q - How can I help?
