Principal's Message

This week AES recognized 20 STAR students for their outstanding work in taking responsibility. As a whole school, we reached our goal of earning 1,000 Paw Tickets to earn a whole school reward. On Tuesday, January 18th, students can bring a stuffed animal to school to celebrate. We are so proud of our students' hard work. This month, we will be recognizing students who demonstrate the STAR principle Always Be Kind.

Welcome Ms. Kilgore!

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Jessica Kilgore who will be my leave replacement for the remainder of the school year. Ms. Kilgore comes to us from Plainsboro Village School in West Windsor where she has been serving as Assistant Principal. Ms. Kilgore impressed us with her thoughtful answers about building relationships with families, students and staff and her outstanding references. I feel confident that I am leaving Ashbrook in great hands.

Volunteers Needed!

Ashbrook has recently contacted our PTA to let them know we are looking for fully vaccinated volunteers to help out with our lunch and recess periods. Staffing shortages have posed challenges this year and any families who are available to support us during our lunch and recess periods are appreciated. Interested parties can contact the main office.

The Lumberton Township School District will be taking part in the nationwide Great Kindness Challenge. The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness. We are hoping that this will encourage and empower students to do more random acts of kindness in and out of school. As the weather gets colder, please send your student to school with appropriate coats, hats and gloves. If with the wind chill it feels below 32 degrees, mask breaks will be limited to five minutes and recess will be held indoors. Thank you for your attention to this.

Board of Education Updates

Last night the Board of Education met.


  • A revised calendar was approved and can be viewed here
  • An amendment was made to the Plan for Safe Return and can be viewed here. The most notable information is that students that test positive will need to quarantine for ten days. Unvaccinated students that are a close contact will need to quarantine for five days.
