Thursday, January 11, 2003
Lafayette Bailey Sr. father of 3 and husband died yesterday at 12:34 a.m. Loretta Brown was taking a daily jog with her dog, snowflake, around Central Park. Her dog saw a bird and ran onto the half frozen lake. The ice cracked and the dog fell into the water. The lady ran quickly after her dog and also fell through. She yelled and Lafayette heard her and sprinted to rescue her. He got in the water and saved the woman first then the dog, but he couldn't save himself. He died of hypothermia two days later. His funeral will be held Sunday, January 14. The hero will be remembered in our hearts.
