What's Happening Week of 3.12.2017
First United Methodist Church Trussville Children's Ministry
Jesus is with us Wherever We GO!
Flat Jesus follows the Flat Stanley concept. No matter where you are headed over Spring Break we are asking everyone to snap and share photos of Flat Jesus with you and your family on our children's ministry Facebook Group: Trussville Methodist Children's Ministry.
Lenten Airlines Friday, April 14 at 4 pm
All kids are invited to board Lenten Airlines on Friday, April 14th at 4 p.m. as we travel to Jerusalem. Kid will get to experience the Upper Room with the disciples, spend time with Jesus in the The Garden, and meet Garcias, a Roman soldier. An interactive trip your child will not forget.
Jesus Heals a Bleeding Woman and Restores a Girl to Life Mark 5:21-43; Matthew 9:18-26; Luke 8:40-56
“When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Silence! Be still!’ Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39).
Jairus asks Jesus to save his dying daughter. As Jesus travels to Jairus’ house, a sick woman touches Jesus’ robe and her faith heals her. Meanwhile, Jairus’ daughter dies. But Jesus is able to bring her back to life because Jesus has power over sickness and death!
Family Together Time
Your child may have done this activity in church today. If so, ask him or her to show you how to do it. If not, here’s how to do it:
- Inflate balloons.Have each person rub a balloon against his or her hair or a piece of wool cloth to create static electricity. Then see what the balloons can pick up off a plate. Try things like ground pepper, pieces of tissue paper, or glitter.
- Talk about what the balloon did or didn’t have power over. Remind everyone that Jesus has power over sickness and death.
Talk About This…Who needs healing that our family can pray for? Take time to pray for that person now.
It's time for 5th Grade Small Group!
All 5th graders are invited to join us this Wednesday, March 15th at 6:15 p.m. in their Sunday school classroom for a small group designed just for them. Led by Lacie Wideman, Emily Dole, and several other young adults, these tweens will talk about topics important to them. We hope to see your 5th grader. This week we'll paint a wooden cross that we'll take with us to Exit456 this weekend! Be sure to check you email for important Exit456 info.

We love snacks. They taste good. But, even with all of their sweet, crunchy, salty, or chewy goodness; nothing compares to the goodness of our God.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” - Psalm 34:8
Wednesday Night Volunteers Needed
We are having a great time Wednesday nights but we need your help. We need adults to assist as we learn and grow together from 6-7:30 pm. If you can help please sign up at the link below. All we need one adult each week. The next few weeks it's all about Snacks!
CAMP SUMATANGA TIME!
Registration is now open for summer camp at Sumatanga. Each summer, children that have completed kindergarten-fifth grade enjoy a fun week at Camp Sumatanga (located about 40 minutes north of us in Gallant, AL).
Children that have completed kindergarten-second grade go to day camp Monday, June 12th -Friday, June 16th. The church will provide transportation to and from each day. Typically we take about 35 children to/from daily for an awesome experience. Friends are welcome to join us.
Overnight camp is for those children that have completed third-fifth grade. Parents will take their children to camp on Sunday, June 11th and pick them up on Friday, June 16th in the afternoon.
Each year, the church budgets for its families to receive funds to help pay for Sumatanga. Day campers receive $50 towards their cost of day camp ($135); overnight campers receive $150 towards their cost. This year, Sumatanga has a tiered fee schedule ($385/$425/$465) for overnight campers to best accommodate your budget. No matter which tier you select for your overnight camper your child’s experience is the same.
This year, if you register on-line you have to pay your entire balance upfront. Since church pays a portion of your child’s fee we are asking church families to fill out a paper application and give to Beth along with the $50 non-refundable deposit for each child for her to mail in. You can get your paper application by emailing Beth OR on-line at www.sumatanga.org. Feel free to contact Beth with any questions you may have.
