National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th. We are asking for volunteers from the community to come in for classroom book readings (for selected classrooms). A flyer/letter is being sent home with students on Friday. The goal is to increase family engagement in our Hispanic community as well as to provide some cultural learning experiences for all our students.

The book readings will be on Thursdays, October 14th and the number of classrooms visited will be based on the number of volunteers we are able to recruit.

Speaking of National Hispanic Heritage Month,

Here is the official government page for National Hispanic Heritage Month with ideas for the classroom.

Here are a few ideas for activities in the classroom from Spanish Mama.

Spring 2021 M-Step Results.

Spring 2021 M-STEP results are in!

The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress, or M-STEP, is an assessment designed to gauge how well students are mastering state standards. These standards broadly outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be prepared to enter the workplace, career education training, and college. The MSTEP is administered to students each spring in grades 3-8, and grade 11.

For students who took the Spring 2021 M-STEP, the individual data reports have arrived! At parent teacher conferences, you will receive a copy of the Parent Report that details your students’ results on each portion of the assessment, as well as questions you could ask your student’s teachers about the results.

Additionally, a helpful companion to this report is the M-STEP Parent Guide, which provides grade level descriptions of the assessed standards and what the student will be expected to learn in the next school year for each tested grade. To access the Parent Report Guides, go to this link on the Michigan Department of Education website.

We look forward to seeing you at Parent-Teacher Conferences: November 2nd, 2021 and November 10th, 2021. More information pertaining to conferences will be coming soon.
