College and Career For Every Student Virtual Advisor Training
All teachers/parents/students are encouraged to sign up and check out the resources. There are a lot of valuable items that we are lucky to have access to.
The session starts with a live 30-minute opening session that shares the building blocks of college and career readiness. Following session one, participants engage in two pre-recorded 30-minute lessons that focus on practices like mentoring, Essential Skills, and steps to become ready for postsecondary education and the workplace.
The 30-minute live closing brings it all together and melds what participants learn into a plan to help students. Newly minted CCR Advisors leave with college and career mapping tools, a national network of CCR Advisors, and other resources to meet ongoing college and career readiness challenges.
These training sessions are accessible by completing this registration form.
You will choose which training you want to view, then click "next" and you will be guided to the link.
Be sure to save that link and then click "submit" on the form.
Once you view all sessions, complete the "Evaluation & Feedback" form located on the web page or you can access it here.
The training starts January 24 at 7:00 pm.

Attendance
Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students access learning opportunities and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and on the job.
Talk about the importance of showing up to school every day.
- Help your child maintain daily routines, such as finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep.
- Try not to schedule medical appointments during the school day.
- Keep your student healthy with habits that support good hygiene and sleep.
- Help us find meaningful after-school activities, including sports and clubs.
Keep in touch: Be sure to reach out if there is something major in your child's life that you feel we should be aware of.
You can report the absence by calling (518-359-3322) or using our email address: attendance@tupperlakecsd.net. When reporting the absence, please be sure to include:
- Student's name
- Reason for absence
NYSED Seeking Nominations for Parent Advisors for Graduation Measures Initiative
Dear Parents,
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is in the process of recruiting parents for two exciting initiatives—The Graduation Measures Blue Ribbon Commission and the Performance-Based Learning & Assessment Networks (PLAN) Pilot. A brief overview of both initiatives is included below. Parents would participate in small group virtual meetings approximately once a month.
Please share the application form with parents of current middle/high school students that you feel would be interested in volunteering for this exciting opportunity to help shape the future of education in New York State. They can complete the application form at this link. If you prefer, you can also email us their name and email address, and we will send the application form. We appreciate your assistance.
NYSED’s Graduation Measures Blue Ribbon Commission will be responsible for developing recommendations on potential changes to graduation requirements for all New York State students. These recommendations may include changes to the number or types of courses that students have to take, the number or types of assessments that students have to pass in order to graduate, and/or whether students should be required to participate in additional learning activities, such as work-based learning, community service, or extended projects (sometimes called capstone projects). Read more about the Blue Ribbon Commission.
In support of NYSED’s Graduation Measures initiative, the Performance-Based Learning and Assessment Networks (PLAN) Pilot looks at how performance-based approaches can be implemented in a diverse range of schools, as part of an assessment strategy that incorporates multiple measures. The project will study how to best support schools and educators in shifting their instructional practices, with the ultimate goal of improved outcomes for students. The purpose of the PLAN Pilot Advisory Workgroups is to advise project staff on the design and implementation of this pilot program. Read more about the PLAN Pilot Advisory Workgroups.
Thank you,
The New York State Education Department
