Cedar Grove Elementary -- School Beautification
The East Coast and West Coast Cafeterias!
Teachers, Staff and Parents of Cedar Grove Elementary, please help us realize our vision for our first school beautification project -- The East Coast and West Coast Cafeterias! The School Beautification Committee needs your help in transforming these spaces!
Planning for this beautification project began last year. Our cafeterias were chosen as the first space in our school to redesign since it is shared by all students. The goal is to redesign each cafeteria to reflect major landmarks of the east and west coasts of our nation. Not only will these spaces instill a sense of pride in our young "Patriots," but they will bolster social studies knowledge.
The following represents our step-by-step plan:
--Complete the painting of the cafeterias in a soft blue. Students last year voted on which color was chosen for the walls. The painting was interrupted by the March closure due to the public health emergency.
--Choose the east and west coast landmarks to be represented in each cafeteria.
--Decide on the formats or media of the art for the designs (i.e., painted murals, wallpaper murals, prints, photos, fabric, etc.).
--Create and/or purchase the art.
--Install the art in each cafeteria.

Valentine's Day
A note to parents...
This year teachers will celebrate Valentine’s Day with their students by choosing from a list of Valentine-themed activities created by our School Spirit Committee. Students are encouraged to wear red and/or pink on Wednesday 2/10 and Thursday 2/11. Out of an abundance of caution we will not be exchanging any Valentine items this year.

Emotional Support for Students and Families
YMCA of Greater Monmouth County
Coronavirus (COVID-19) can affect children and young people directly and indirectly. Beyond getting sick, many young people’s social, emotional, and mental well-being has been impacted by the pandemic.
If you are concerned your child is exhibiting one or more of these symptoms, now would be a good time to reach out for some support and counseling. The YMCA is available to help. They currently offer in person and telehealth counseling to children and adolescents ages 3 and up at a variety of outpatient and school locations throughout Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex County. For more information, see the attached YMCA FLYER.
