Week of November 26-30, 2018
A Message From Mr. Bennett
Faculty & Staff,
Welcome Back! I trust that the break was just what you needed to be rejuvenated appropriately to finish 2018 strong!
We have exactly four weeks left in semester one and how you spend your time will greatly impact how your first semester is recorded "in the books". Bambrick offers us the following Core Idea:
"The fastest way to develop a skill is to see it, name it, and do it.
Then repeat until you've mastered it"
Using the medical analogy, would you ever expect a doctor to perform an operation before seeing one first hand and rehearsing the skills necessary to be fully prepared and successful? How much would you allow your doctor to NOT BE prepared for the procedure? Is RELATIVELY prepared or MOSTLY prepared enough for you?
The same expectation must exist for our scholars. How are you ensuring that our scholars will have the skills and content knowledge to demonstrate mastery of the curriculum? Our scholars must be fully prepared to successfully navigate the ACPs. Have you prepared exemplars? How will you aggressively monitor their progress? What in the moment feedback will you give to correct a misconception?
Now more than ever...
- Be creative
- Flip the paradigm
- Demand best effort
- Require mastery
Here's to a great week of teaching and learning!
