Quality Brand Distribution Implements Tobacco Free Campus Policy

On September 1, 2018, Quality Brands Distribution, a family-owned beer, wine, spirits and non-alcoholic beverage distributor became tobacco free at all of their locations in both Nebraska and South Dakota, including Lincoln, Omaha, North Platte, Rapid City and Chamberlain. Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) staff worked with the company for six months to implement the policy, which affects over 323 employees. Congratulations to Quality Brand Distribution for showing their commitment to protecting the health of their employees!

FDA takes action on electronic cigarettes, cigars and menthol

The FDA's September "call to action" to the e-cigarette industry to stop the alarming increase in youth use of e-cigarettes," is joined by the November 15, 2018 FDA proposal to prevent youth access to flavored tobacco products and ban menthol in cigarettes. Smoke-Free Housing Experiencing Growth

In 2018 the number of smoke-free housing units identified on Tobacco Free Lancaster County's Smoke-Free Housing Registry has increased by 20% (from 7,743 to 9,227). Currently 23% of the 39,000 available licensed multi-family housing units in Lincoln are identified as being smoke-free. Please help continue this growth by sharing this survey with Property Managers you know!

Tobacco Free Lancaster County Coalition (TFLC)

The final TFLC quarterly meeting of 2018 was held on December 11. We are looking forward to working with our community partners to protect and promote the health of Lancaster County residents in 2019.

Tobacco Free Lancaster County Coalition

Tobacco Free Lancaster County (TFLC) protects the public by eliminating exposure to secondhand smoke, preventing youth from starting to use tobacco, providing tobacco education to all populations and encouraging people to quit.

TFLC includes 25 community partner organizations and is led by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department.
