A Musical Note from Mrs. Stearns!
Our Winter Concert is Thursday, December 8th at 6PM at NHS Pickard Auditorium!!!
I am in need of 24, 2-3 gallon buckets for a bucket drumming piece for 5th grade. If you have any extra 2-3 gallon buckets sitting around please consider donating them. I do not need the lids, just the bucket.
Alternatively, if you have a 5-gallon bucket that is laying around, I am in need of 3.
The students have been working hard so far this year and we are getting ready for our Winter Concert.

Walk to School Wednesday, Oct. 5th
Safe Routes to School sponsors a “Walk to School Wednesday” and this year it is on October 5th. This is a day to promote safe walking to school. We will be teaching our kids safe walking tips and road rules throughout the week and they will have a chance to win some small prizes donated by Safe Routes to School. Some Spring Road staff will be walking to school on October 5th if your child would like to walk with us. If so, have them meet us on the corner of Cooke and Deerwood or CB and Cty II by 7:45. If you are dropping them off to walk please do not stop along the busy roads to let them out of the car. You are welcome to pull into the frontage road or the clinic along II and CB to let them out to join us for the 1/2 mile walk to school. Please be sure to talk to your kids above the safety rules if they are walking or biking to school.

Fall Conference Meal Sign Up
Every year the Spring Road PTO and families provide the staff with meals during conferences. This year we are providing a Nacho bar on Thursday, October 20, a baked potato bar on Tuesday, October 25th, and a chili bar on Friday, October 28th. Please look at our sign-up to see if there are food items you can provide or donate your time to set out food and clean up. We always appreciate all your help. Sign up at https://signup.com/go/eOtQAaH
If you are unable to donate items or your time, but would still like to help, we are always accepting cash donations to help offset the cost of additional items that need to be purchased. Please bring/send an envelope labeled “Conference Meal Donations” to the office. Any amount is appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact the PTO at springroadpto@gmail.com
The PTO Has Volunteer Opportunities Available!

Drop off Procedures
Beginning on Monday (Oct. 3rd), we will have two supervisors to help!!! A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Robles and Ms. VanOudenhoven! Supervision will begin at 7:50. Students will be allowed to play on the pea gravel and on the blacktop near the school. We will not be getting out equipment or having students play in the field or the blacktop area behind the school. In the event of rain or below-zero weather, students will be allowed to enter the building at 7:50 and sit in the hallway by their lockers. Hopefully, this will also help with traffic congestion in the morning.
A reminder of our procedures
Please pull up to the drop off zone
Anywhere between these two signs are safe for dropping off kids.
Questions from our Families
1. How do I give the entire staff a little “pick me up” for morale, support, and enjoyment randomly throughout the school year?
The staff at Spring Road love treats! If you ever want to bring in some unexpected treats, the staff will be thrilled! Just drop them off in the office and we will be sure to bring them to the Staff Lounge. Notes of thanks are very much appreciated. A quick email or written note brightens anyone's day! Emails can be sent directly to the staff using the staff directory (click HERE). Notes can be dropped off in the office or sent in with your child(ren) to be hand carried to the staff member. Another way to pick up morale is by posting something positive on social media! A shout-out of appreciation on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram...etc is a quick way to recognize the hard work of a staff member!
2. Are dogs allowed on school grounds at any time of the school day? I've been seeing a lot more families walking with their dogs up to the front doors when dropping off and picking up their child(ren). I see a sign by the playground that says no pets/ dogs.
This is hard for me because I LOVE animals. However, pets are not to be brought on school property. We need to ensure the safety and well-being of all of our students. A registered Therapy or Service dog would be permissible if the owner is in control of the dog at all times and has insurance paperwork filed with the Neenah Joint School District.
Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Award Nominations
Please consider nominating an educator that has made a difference in your child's life. Nominations of Wisconsin PK through 12 teachers and principals can now be submitted online at www.kohleducation.org for the 2022 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation teacher Fellowship and principal Leadership awards. The deadline for submission is Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. central time. Awards are $6,000, with an additional $6,000 grant going to the school of each selected teacher and principal. Established in 1990, the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation awards 100 Fellowships and 16 Leadership awards annually from among all applicants throughout the state.
For teachers or principals to be eligible, they must be nominated by a parent, student, other teacher, community member, or school administrator. Wisconsin teachers and principals in grades PK through 12 who plan to continue in their current capacity for at least one year are eligible. The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship rewards teachers who have demonstrated superior ability to inspire love of learning in their students, have motivated others, and have provided meritorious service both in and outside the classroom. It also recognizes and supports principals who demonstrate administrative leadership and positively influence school culture.
PBIS!
Thank you to all of the families who took the time to watch our PBIS video and learn more about our program here at Spring Road. We had 30 families watch the video and submit some positive feedback. Thank you to The Timber Rattlers for the donation of a Family 4 Pack of tickets to a 2023 home game! Click here to watch the video of spinning the wheel to find out our prize winner! Congratulations to the Fergus Family!
Did you know that last year 107 Spring Road students were recognized as Roadrunner Rockstars at our end-of-quarter celebration? That is almost 1/3 of our students and we only had 8 repeats. We LOVE catching our students with all the positives they are doing on a daily basis. We've decided to catch some more Roadrunners doing the right thing. Monthly all of our Spring Road staff will be filling out You've Been Caught slips. This can be for a safe, respectful, or responsible action in any area of the school. Some students will be announced on Fridays and every student recognized will be bringing these slips home to share with you. We look forward to celebrating your child's good choices in the months ahead, thank you for continuing to reinforce safe, respectful, and responsible behaviors at home as well. Look for September You've Been Caught slips to be coming home soon!
Just a reminder, if you would like to purchase a new Red Roadrunner shirt for Wednesdays we are selling them for $8.00. There is limited stock so all shirts will be first come, first serve. We still have Youth Small, Youth Medium, Youth Large, Adult Small, and Adult Large available. If you need a new slip to place your order, please click HERE or have your child pick up a slip in the office. Return your slip and money as soon as possible, so you don't miss out on this opportunity!
Boys and Girls Brigade Holiday Assistance
The holidays can be a stressful time for families who need financial assistance. Being aware of community resources that are available to help may make your holidays a little bit easier and a lot more enjoyable. One of those programs is the Boys and Girls Brigade Christmas Giving program. With this program, families are “adopted” and given items such as clothing and toys.
If you would like to be considered for assistance through the Brigade Christmas Giving program please contact Mrs. Hendryx, Elementary Social Worker. You must contact Mrs. Hendryx directly to be considered for this program.
For questions or to be considered for the program please email cassandra.hendryx@neenah.k12.wi.us
Please be aware that your family cannot receive assistance from the Brigade Christmas Giving program if you are also getting assistance from another program, such as the Salvation Army. Filling out and returning paperwork does not guarantee participation in the program - just consideration. You must live within the Cities or Townships of Neenah or Menasha.
