The Solar System
The world of Planets, explained
What The Solar System Is:
The solar system is a complex system of planets in our galaxy, The Milky Way. This thing we know as the solar system, is a bunch of planets, different lengths from the sun. If you didn't know what order the planets go in, Here is a site to help you with that!
The sun is hot, isn't it.
Mercury
Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system, and the
first planet in the solar system. It has an orbital period of 88 Earth days, which is faster than any other planet.
Venus
Venus is the second planet from the sun, and orbits it every 224.7 days. It has the longest rotation period of the solar system. Venus, has a radius of 3,760 and is 67.24 million miles from the sun.
Earth
The planet we all know and love. Earth. Earth, is the third planet from the sun, the densest planet, and the largest of the systems terrestrial planets. Earth has a radius of 3,959 miles, and is approximately 4.543 billion years old. It is also 92.96 million miles from the sun
Planets of the Solar System, And An Acronym To Help:
Some of you might know this acronym, but I'll state it here to remind you:
MVEMJSUN aka My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nachos. Each capital letter stands for a planet. M for Mercury, V for Venus, E for Earth, M again for Mars, J for Jupiter, S for Saturn, U for Uranus, and N for Neptune. Even though scientists say Neptune is not a planet, Other scientists say it is. Even though the astronomers have added a new planet, in 5th grade you don't need to learn about it. But still, the name is Planet Nine. The ninth planet in the solar system.

Mars
Mars is the 4th planet from the sun. It is approximately 141.6 million miles from the Sun!
With a radius of 2,106 miles, and a length of day as 1 day zero hours, and 40 minutes.
Mars is the second smallest planet in the Solar System, and was named after its red color.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the 5th planet from the sun, and also is the largest of the planets. Jupiter has a radius of 43,441 miles, and is 483.8 million miles from the sun. Jupiter is the Largest Gas Giant planet in our solar system, and is known for the giant red spot.
Saturn
Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun, and has a radius of 36,184 miles and is known commonly for its rings made of ice, and rock. It has a distance of 890.7 million miles from the sun. Imagine trying to drive there, it'd be a loooooong trip.
Uranus
Although Uranus has a funny name, it is the 7th planet from the sun. It was originally found to be a planet from the astronomer named Sir William Herschel. It was decided then that the planet would be named an official planet.
Neptune
Ahhhh Alas. The last planet of the solar system. Neptune. Neptune is the 8th planet from the sun, and was named for its ocean-like color and after the roman myth god Neptune.
Neptune is
