Vertical
This brick column demonstrates a vertical line. The design of the column is that it shoots up from the floor, straight to the ceiling. This adds the effect of making the building look taller and draws the eye upwards.
Horizontal
These brick lines represent a horizontal line. This element of design draws the eye to the wall and makes the wall look longer. The brick pattern forms multiple horizontal lines on the wall, giving the wall decoration.
Diagonal
The angle at which the windows are placed forms multiple diagonal lines. This draws the eye from the red beams to the natural light from the windows. It also makes the ceiling of the building look taller due to the angle of the windows.
Curved
The design of the top of the wall surrounding the window represents a curved line. This allows more light to enter the building and gives the window character. It gives the impression of a large window, even when the window is actually small in size.
Rhythm
The repetition of the angled walls displays rhythm. This rhythm adds dimension to the room and draws the eye towards the center of the room. It also makes the ceiling appear higher up due to the angle of the top of the wall that travels upward.
Center of Interest
The Coppell Sports Medicine logo is a focal point in this room because it immediately draws the eye towards the wall that it is on. This decorates the room, adds a personal touch, and makes the room unique.
Symmetrical
This staircase is identical on both sides creating symmetry. Both sides of the staircase are the same. The symmetry creates a uniform and put together look.
Asymmetrical
This staircase has an asymmetrical design because the left side is different from the right side. This informal design makes the staircase unique and it also makes the staircase have more surface area.
Grouping
The clustering of these 4 classrooms shows grouping. The classroom are separate, but they are bundled together in the hall way. Because of the grouping, people can feel like they are in separate class rooms, but also feel like they are in a community.
