COYOTE FAMILIES

This year we are honoring our entire staff with a Holiday Luncheon for teachers, custodians, paras, office and cafeteria staff, to thank them for all of their hard work and commitment to our kids this school year.

If would like to help us in saying "Thank You" to our entire staff, please consider donating a gift card or gift basket to our school. We will collect donations in the front office and we will raffle off all of the donated items at our Holiday Luncheon for all employees to enjoy. This way, not only our teachers will be thanked this holiday season, so will our support and clerical staff that work behind the scenes each day to support our educational efforts with our kids.

Thank you for your consideration and Happy Holidays!

MEET MR. MARTIN

A CHILDHOOD ART CLASS THAT LEAD TO A LIFE OF SUCCESS

As a 16 year-old art prodigy CHS’s new art teacher Richard Martin never thought he’d make it big but later got multiple job offers by the man behind Marvel and ended up selling his artwork all over the world.

STANDOUT COYOTES

Saturday December 8th the boys basketball teams, all three levels went to Mid-west food bank in Gilbert. This was setup by Coach Andersen as a freshmen team idea, but Coach Johnson decided it would be great to include everyone. This turned out to be 36 boys and 4 coaches. Mid-west food bank was established in Illinois in 2005 in response to Hurricane Katrina. This food bank has expanded every year to include Illinois, Texas, California, Colorado and recently Arizona. Their Arizona branch is their fastest growing branch and serves 250+ charitable food distribution organizations. The basketball team worked for 3 hours packaging food to feed people right here in the Phoenix area. This food will be used immediately. They packaged breakfast cereal. This cereal was taken from giant bins and packaged for individual servings. Over 14,000 servings were packaged by the group that Combs boys basketball was part of. The forty boys and coaches that represented Combs High on Saturday all were very happy and fulfilled afterwards. "I've done this many times before," said Ethan Bates, a JV Player. "But not with my team, it was great". January brings a new month and a new opportunity to serve for the Combs boys basketball team. "We are still deciding what's next, but it will be great," said Coach Johnson in anticipation of the next time the boys and their coaches will look to help others.

The CHS Competition Cheer team qualified for the AIA State Championship for Division 2. Team members include: Captain Grace Hannum, Brooklyn Mcclendon, Haylee Dawson, Brileigh Allen, Nia Spencer, Kaitlyn Pena, Terri Goldman, Sarah Hargis, Darian Vigneux, Madelynn Hallihan, Jayci Martz, Chloe Morris, Naomi Oakes, Abbi Simmons, Devin Reed and Olivia Logsdon.

They qualified in Show Cheer with all team members and in All Girl Stunt Team with again Captain Grace Hannum, Sarah Hargis, Nia Spencer, Jayci Martz and Madi Hallihan. These Girls will be competing against all other qualifying teams in Division 2 at the State Cheerleading competition on February 2nd. The location is yet to be determined.
