Havelock North Primary School - 22nd March 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
Thank you for your support last week with the Teacher Only Day. This was an excellent day of online learning as we collaborated with our neighbouring schools in a number of areas.
Learning Conferences
A big thank you to all those who were able to attend our online conferences last week. We appreciated your flexibility and taking the time to connect. These connections are particulary powerful at this challenging time.
This week Mr Stygall, Mrs Te Whaiti, Mrs Sarah Allen and Miss Baker will have their conferences. Bookings for these teachers can also be made using the link https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/
The booking code is st5tf
These bookings will be cut off on Wednesday at 9:00am. Any bookings after this time will need to be made by emailing the classroom teacher. Thank you!
COVID-19 lastest information
We are hopeful this week that Covid positive numbers will soon start to taper off. Yesterday we reported 13 new cases over the three day long weekend. This week there has been a slight drop off in the number of students isolating which is a positive sign.
Just a reminder for students isolating. Day 0 is the first day of isolation and students can return to school on Day 8 following a negative Day 7 test. There is no need to return a negative test on Day 7 if you are a positve case. These students can return to school if they are symptom free. There seems to be a trend with a number of isolating students testing positive on their last day of isolation.
Cabinet are likely to release some changes to the rules tomorrow afternoon, so a number of the current requirments may be obsolete shortly. We will certainly keep you posted as new information comes to hand.
Have a great week everyone!
Ngā mihi

Working Bee Sunday 27th March
Dear Te Mata Park Volunteers,
Please join us for a working bee focusing on weed control around the native plantings in the Tauroa Forest (plateau above Giant Redwoods) from 9am on Sunday 27th March.
In line with the Covid-19 vaccination policy adopted by the Te Mata Park Trust Board last year, we respectfully ask that anyone over the age of 12 attending our volunteer events, be vaccinated.
Location and registration details below. We hope to see you there!
WEEDING DAY IN THE TAUROA FOREST
The relatively wet end to the summer has given the weeds a bit of a boost and we would love your help to get them under control and ensure our native plantings have some room to thrive. We will be trampling around the native plants to ensure they don’t become swamped by large weeds and grasses, and pulling weeds.
WHEN: Sunday 27th March 9am-12pm
WHERE: Tauroa Forest
Meet on site at 9am (see map- approximately 15-20 minute walk from car parks).
From the MAIN GATES CAR PARK, follow Chambers Walk or the green track to the purple/blue track (FIRST entrance to purple track on Chambers Walk) toward the Giant Redwoods for 800m.
From TAUROA CAR PARK, the site is a 1.3km walk via Chambers Walk. Follow Chambers Walk to where the blue and purple track meet (SECOND entrance to purple track off Chambers Walk). Once on purple/blue track, head up the hill. At top of hill, continue on purple track toward the Giant Redwoods and you will see the area on the plateau above the redwoods. Location indicated by white arrow in the map below.
BRING: Gloves, appropriate footwear, drinking water, and some snacks.
- Please note that it is a 20 minute walk to the planting site, so please be aware of this for younger children or those with compromised mobility.
- Please carpool to the site, whenever possible.
- All are welcome, including tamariki.
- Please confirm your attendance to Eleanor on eleanor@tematapark.co.nz
