Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20th 1967, He Had to deal with his parents yelling and fighting. After his parents divorced at the age of nine he went to live with his father. He resented his step mother and her two children. He believed his father always took his step mother's side and favored her children. Cobain began experimenting with drugs in his mid-teens and pushed himself farther away from his father. Cobain's life changed when he started listening to punk rock. As high school progressed he was doing more drinking and drugging.


In 1988 Nirvana was formed. Kurt Cobain became a rock legend with his band Nirvana in the 1990's.Their signature sound included elements of punk and heavy metal. He also excelled at drawing, learned to play the piano, and when he received a guitar from his uncle it inspired him to play.

Hardships/ important events

Started using heroin in the early 1990's, the drug provided an escape and some relief for his chronic stomach pains. In 1992 Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love got married, both were into drugs and often used together. On March 4, 1994 while in his hotel in Rome Italy he attempted suicide by taking an overdose on drugs. On March 18, Love called the police to report that Cobain was suicidal. A few days later Love had an intervention for Cobain trying to convince him to get off drugs, Cobain checked himself into a chemical dependency clinic in Los Angeles but left after only a few days. On April 5, 1994 Cobain committed suicide.


Kurt Cobain's environment could of influenced his personality, growing up he had to deal with his parent's fighting, getting divorced, and not getting along with his step mother. The environment he grew up in could of had of an influence on him starting to use drugs, his interest in rock music and being in a band.


Kurt Cobain was said to have bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). The appropriate therapy would of been lithium to treat bipolar disorder, it would flatten out the cycles of mania and depression.
