Family Engagement learning for all our schools

Canoga Park Chatsworth Community of Schools joined forces with Reseda Community of Schools on April 22 to host a special Reframing Parent Engagement Strategies Professional Development for all of our 42 schools. Principals, Community Reps, SAA, Office Techs and many other roles at schools were invited to learn about best practices to provide welcoming environments for our parents at all our schools. The morning was filled with breakfast, raffles, giveaways, good learning and takeaway banners that you will see at your school offices so be on the look out for the banner below!

Summer School 2023

The core summer programs begin on June 26 and conclude on July 25 and are available to all students in Grades ETK through 12. Students in Grades TK through 8 can participate in the Beyond the Bell Summer Enrichment Program June 13 through July 28, with in-person activities focusing on academic, physical, creative and social-emotional development. Students in Grades TK through 12 can join the virtual Summer Enrichment program June 26 through July 28 where they can enjoy exciting subjects like learning to play the guitar or ukulele, 2D game design and animation, dance and music, STEM courses and many more. Superior students get a flying action assembly

With all their safety gear in place, BMX bikers put on a thrilling assembly for the Superior students to enjoy for their hard work and good citizenship. Even Principal Ayala got into the action by joining in the fun by having the bikers jump over her as students cheered them on. Keep up the great work Superior students!

Topeka Charter SAS Tiger Trot 2023

Topeka held its annual Tiger Trot Fundraiser! Tiger Trot helps raise funds for our Psychomotor P.E. Program and promotes Topeka families to get out there and get active! This year, the kids were provided with official runner bibs that kept track of all the laps they ran, and had so much fun starting and finishing under a blowup arch. Parents, staff, and Principal Chavez also joined in on the race and were able to get a workout in with all of the children. Amazing turnout Topeka Tigers!

Enadia Way places 3rd at Conga Finals!

Way to go to the Enadia students who participated in a Conga showcase and proudly brought home a trophy for the school placing 3rd overall. We are proud of our Enadia students!

Chatsworth Park Magnet UPD wins National Magnet Award

Congratulation to the Chatsworth Park Magnet UPD for taking the achievement award for New and Emerging Magnet School of Merit this past weekend. Way to go Palominos!

Germain ES hots Operation School Bell on Wheels

Germain was given the opportunity to host Operation School Bell on Wheels (OSB). Operation School Bell on Wheels is an event to service underserved LAUSD Region North elementary students, grades K-5, with a backpack, shoes, socks, clothing, grooming supplies and a book. The event will service about 280 LAUSD students.

Beckford Students Highlight their Ballroom Skills at the Carnival of Knowledge

Many of our 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade students performed at the Carnival of Knowledge last March 30th highlighting the amazing ballroom dance program at Beckford. Third grade spiced up the dance floor by dancing to the Meringue. Fourth grade showed off their dance moves to the Dominican Bachata, Waltz and Tango while fifth grade demonstrated Salsa and Swing for all to enjoy!

Beckford Family Fun Night 2023

The Beckford yard was filled with smiles, laughter and fun as families came together to enjoy Family Fun Night! There was a DJ, games, crafts, obstacle course, scavenger hunt, live entertainment and so many yummy food options from Sharky’s, pizza, hotdogs, candy apple, Kona Ice and the Cinnabon Truck.

Hart St. parents get hands-on learning to support at home


Hart St. Elementary had their ELAC meeting with their Instructional Coach teaching parents how to read and practice at home with their students. The parents were so excited about practicing and following all the details Ms. Ortega shared. The hands-on workshop was very helpful to our parents because they learned how to help their kids at home. Nevada students read for a good cause!

Along with the Jester & Pharley Foundation, Nevada Elementary students teamed up for a read-a-thon to raise money to bring books into the Cedars Sinai Hospital for children battling cancer to have books to read while undergoing treatment. Students from ETK all the way to 5th grade read thousands of minutes and raised money to support over 50 books for the hospital. This assembly recognized all the amazing student readers! Way to go Lions!!

Reagan Presidential Library / Discovery Center: OPERATION URGENT FURY

5th-grade palominos at Chatsworth Park Magnet UPD took a trip to the Reagan Presidential Library for a hands-on simulation experience about the Invasion of Grenada (1983). Palominos took part in a pre-simulation briefing, and assumed roles of President Reagan, cabinet members, military leaders, and even the Press Corp, where they got to make real-time decisions on how to bring American students back safely while preserving stability in the region.

Lights, Camera, ACTION!!!

The 4th Annual “Making Movies that Matter (MMTM)” Youth Short Film Festival and artist-in-residence (AIR) program is happening now and we invite all our student filmmakers and their families to the red carpet event happening on May 18 at The Soraya at CSUN where the films will be shared on the big screen. This is an amazing program brought to our schools by Councilmember John Lee CD12 office. Please email Ron Rubine to RSVP at ron.rubine@lacity.org
