Haun Helpful Hints

Week of 10/17 - 10/21

Many Thanks for Another Great Week!

It was wonderful to see the communication taking place during the conferences throughout the past few weeks. The parent-child-teacher relationship is so important and helpful for the student getting the best education they can. Please continue the open lines of communication with your parents - both for successes and areas to address!

7 Steps to a Language-Rich Interactive Classroom

Step 3 -Randomize and Rotate When Calling on Students

Randomizing - A system for selecting students to answer that promotes higher student engagement and more accurate assessment for student understanding. Students grow accustomed to always being prepared to respond. Best used when question is asked, pause, and then select a student to respond using a random selection system. Ex's: popsicle sticks, index cards, Spin the Wheel app

Rotating - This system works best with classroom discussions, and is a way to get everyone involved and avoid the problem of calling of same student again and again. This system allows for total participation. Ex's: numbering students off, marking a seating charts are called on
